Jeannie, your ground address you gave (see below) is incomplete.
This guy has been a pain in my tush since he won an auction. I have sent all that has transpired between us and am so angry right now, I could spit. ANY suggestions on how to answer him without losing it, would be appreciated.

My name and shipping preference was in the original email. If a
complete ground mailing address had been included in your first email,
payment would have been in the mail last Saturday and the email to you
stating such (including shipping and name information) would have been sent
either that same Saturday or the previous Friday. This is all pointless
anyway because you have already queried EBay last Saturday for my
information.

If you are getting the feeling at this point that I am not happy with
how this transaction is proceeding, you are correct. I try very hard to
close an EBay transaction quickly and my feedback indicates that. Your
email also indicates a lack of intelligence on my part to correctly
complete this transaction which I find offensive.

At this point in time, I am not sure when a check can be mailed. Our
rural mail carriers get a day off for New Years and it depends if you can
supply an acceptable mailing address on the 3rd attempt. I'll do my best
to get a check in the mail a day or two after I receive it.

Thanks for your reply but I am still missing your last name and your
shipping information. This is necessary as your item is packed and
labeled when I receive the information. Upon receipt of the payment, the
item can be pulled and mailed same day or next, depending on when
payment arrives.

Check is fine, amount due is $xxx. Send to:
xxxx
xxxx
Florida
I will notify you when funds arrive and when I ship. I believe you will
be pleased with your purchase.

I request prior information as I do business Internationally and some
people do not understand shipping outside the USA is entirely different
as are funds and payment.

Happy Holidays,

Sounds a bit touchy to me but on the other hand I always include my address on the first e-mail I send out. Some people do not like playing e-mail tag. You already ststed the shipping total so why not give him the address on your first contact ?

Hi, Here is the message I send a winning bidder.
'Congratulations on winning this auction!

Priority mail shipping and handling charges are $x.xx and cost $xx.xx for a total of $xx.xx. Insurance if you want it is an additional $x.xx.

Please send your payment to;
xxxxxx
xxxx xxxxxx xx.
xxxx,xx xxxxx
IMPORTANT! Be sure to include the item name and number with your payment. Thanks for bidding!! xxxxxx'

If parcle post or UPS are cheaper I include the amounts for them as options. If the customer has any questions they can then contact me. It has worked well for me but a few still don't include the item name or number which is always fun!

I am reading all your help, I have tried other notices to my buyers, but the don't read and I find my way, easier on everyone. In over 500 sells, this is the first complaint on my customer service. I notice that someone said I sent the shipping, I offered priority, as I ship free by first class or media mail. I have already been stung on shipping to Canada because I sent the total first. They went into paypal and sent the $ before I could do anything, and that was the days before refund button....

Grrrrrrr,

Maybe I can help alittle. Unless you WBN is automatic you can modify it by looking to see where your bidder is from. That is located on eBays EOA notice. If he is from the US disregard the part about international bidders, that should take some of the writing out of your WBN. I just received an email from a bidder that didn't respond to my WBN, sent it again because of the holiday and I include my name and address at the end of the email. Obviously he didn't read any email because he said if I would send him my name and address he would get a check out right away. duh. It was included twice and twice he missed it. Tis the season.

Sometimes I think that having separate paragraphs in my EOA message doesn't work for some people. I think they just read my first paragraph, which says how much they owe, and quit reading then because there's white space before the next paragraph begins. Sometimes I think running it all together in one large paragraph would work better for some of those careless folk.

I'm toying with the idea of an opening sentence stating "congratulations, please follow these THREE easy steps to complete this transaction"
(1) How much they owe
(2) Payment deadline
(3) Where to send payment

Still thinking about this.

A few comments,

1) Just b/c this is the first complaint out of 500, that does not diminish the complaint. Others may have felt the same way and not bothered complaining about it. Heed the advice.

2) The buyer seems perfectly reasonable. If you want to make the sale, just wrtie an apologetic email pointing out she is the 1st person to notice these deficiencies with your system, and thank her.

3) If this is a form email that you send, you may want to re-read it carefully for grammar. Many buyers take bad grammer and bad selling as a bad sign. It's easily corrected, and, writing as a buyer, I can say that it does make a difference. I'm a lot more undderstanding with personal emails, but when it is a form email or web text, I figure that poor grammar is a sign of sloppiness.

Hi
I have tried doing the notification email in many different ways to see which give me what I want from the buyer. And now I send the following email after the buyer goes to check out.

Hi
Thank you for contacting me so quickly,

Please send Payment in the Amount of.....................$

Bid Price of..........................$
Shipping...............................$
Insurance............................ $

To help me identify your payment quicker please include
DATE AUCTION ENDED...........
ITEM NUMBER OF ..................#

......payment type would be.....
Personal Check...............OR......Postal Money Order

Send Payment to:
And my address.........

Now, if I contact them first, I still know if they are US buyer or International buyer from the EOA email from Ebay.
And this is what I would send to them:

Hi
Thank you and congratulations on being the high
bidder on my Auction.
Please email me your Name and Complete Shipping Address
so that I can prepare your item for shipping.

.United States......Either a Personal Check,
OR......a Postal Money Order, which ever you prefer.

Payment would be sent to:
My Address

THEY ALREADY NOW THE SHIPPING COST BECAUSE ITS LISTED IN MY AUCTIONS, SO ALL I REALLY NEED IS FOR THEM TO ACTKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM ME.

This has worked for me for a long time, and just though you would like to see how someone eles does it................It does work well.........for me anyway.

Too many emails back and fourth cause a problem when one does not have all the information. It only causes problems.
Also, lots of my customers just don't like emailing me there Address, so I need to respect how they feel and just wait till the payment arrives with the shipping address.

Above was mine.

I have No idea where my stuff is being bought, no pre shipping stated in my auctions. No crystal ball here. They send the address, I quote the shipping, I get the money, I ship. End of story. If they give feedback I return it.

Feed back, for those WHO still believe it's over just cause you sent it,,,,,rude awakening,,,,it's over when YOU return their feedback or hear nothing from them. Never Give it First as a seller.

Sorry, some do have shipping, I simply send that above notice and add, Send the total, Thanks.

Never give them options on insurance etc.. Just Charge them.

This is minimal e mailing as you will ever do.

Happy New Year!!!

Edited also to say:
The insurance thing, If you have no fear it will break, Why waste their Money. Just be sure to get delivery Confirmation on it. ?.55 cents. You are NOW protected. All this Insurance and delivery confirmation is for is for YOU the seller. And YOU NEED it. Get it, for you! Why even bother asking them? It's not for THEM, but YOU. Ask yourself, Do YOU want to be insured or be confirmed it arrived? The answer is clear, YES. Charge them. Our sellers A, is on the line if they, SAY, They never got it, Or it was broken.

Experience,,,,, is a Great Teacher.

Whhhhhhiiiiiiip It,,,,,,Whip it GOOD!

I'm with Fetish on insurance. I never give buyers a choice unless it's under $10 - and then I state it as 3.20 OR 1.90 without insurance at buyers request and risk.

Over 1000 transactions, no problems so far.

If you've been having a rough day, there is a stress management technique recommended in all the latest psychological texts in order to help you relax.

Please follow these steps properly to get the full effect:

1. Picture yourself near a stream.
2. Imagine birds chirping softly in the crisp, cool, mountain air.
3. No one but you knows your secret place.
4. You are in total seclusion from that hectic place known as "the world."
5. The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade of serenity.
6. The water is crystal clear...
7. ...You can easily make out the face of the person you're holding under the water.

Update, I did reply to him and thanked him for his reply and requested payment as per my tos, and wished him Happy Holidays. Today I received one of the most profane emails I have ever encountered. Including don't tell me Happy Holidays.

Deduced, it is not me or my methods, just an individual that is angry at the world and took it out on me. Oh well, if no $ by 10th day, will relist and file npb and follow thru, if he negs, I will reply with npb/fvc and dates.

Really liked some of the suggestions here.

Thanks,
Jeannie

Hi
I really enjoyed reading these posts! The Secret Place was awesome!

I just wanted to mention that Delivery Confirmation is available free on all Priority packages and for $.13 on media and first class mail, if you use Stamps.com.

Delivery has been awesome using stamps.com epostage. Most Priority packages are delivered in 2 days, even on the east coast... I'm in the north west.

Happy new year!
Paula
