I got 2 emails this AM, one, saying they paid for the item (whatever?) then a second saying 'ok I'll pay again, just to get you off my back' (HUH?)

I found him in my database, he bought 2 items from me....... NINE months ago. One thing he paid, the other, we mutually agreed not to go through with the second item. Never filed any NPB things, nothing.

So this is what I get now, copied and pasting here... sorry its long!
If anyone gets to the very bottom, his complaint is there, about some Pioneer Receiver, I NEVER had one up for auction.
Could this be a scam? I have no clue why I'm involved, I did look it up and he paid with CC in April '02 through PayPal. ?????????

Then please explain.....

Jim

Par for the deadbeat course. He can't even remember who he stiffed and for what.

Is it possible your records are faulty? Seems very weird that eBay would think you had NPB'd him if you hadn't.

I was trying to figure it out, but I am going to sit back and see what others say. What I don't understand the two auctions that are mentioned have nothing to do with a Pioneer receiver or am I missing something. Good Luck with this one.

Have to agree with fluffy on this one, just a deadbeat looking for a way in.

I hope you have proof of shipping for the first item as they paid via CC. Sounds like they stiffed a few sellers and ebay[read stupid]will now welcome this deadbeat back by giving them a clean slate.
Sad part is that they do not know who they stiffed.

Well whats confusing and weirder is the dates in the email from eBay: 3/11/02-3/22/02 I mean, thats a long time ago, I thought you couldn't file any NPB if it were 9 months ago (and btw, I didn't, now or back then)

Sure I used Delivery Confirmation, but I know I don't still have them, I believe 6 months is the longest I keep them....guess I thought wrong... how long should we keep them?

They can try a chargeback but you KNOW that all disputes MUST be in writing to the CC company within 60 days of billing. So this is way beyond chargeback time limits. Even supposing the bank wanted to cooperate, the MasterCard and VISA regulations would severely limit them. Unless this was a very big dollar amount it wouldn't be worth the fee they'd have to pay to attempt to resolve the dispute. Trust me on this. I have 10+ years in CC customer service management. All this bozo will get is a form letter saying too late.

I hope so! I had heard that chargebacks could occur after a year, and thought that sounded way too long.

He just wrote back! I can't believe it, he must be trying to get out of being suspended, I had replied back to him each time that 'you've got the wrong seller' so finally he just wrote:

Thanks Shelly for staying in contact..... I will take eBay on by
myself... would appreciate your support should the need arise.....as
always, Jim

MY SUPPORT? EEYIKES no way..... I just looked too at my blocked bidders list, and he's on it... I probably put him there for only going through with paying for the one item.... (9 months ago!) God I don't know anymore about some (a lot lately!) bidders!!

Thanks all, this one really threw me!

Who in Hzxl can remember what happened 9 months ago?? I'll bet 9 out of 10 of you can't. I would block this jerks email & go on with your life. I can't believe there is anyone so far back in the woods as this one.

One wonders why he's so hot to trot to get back in eBay's good graces. I shudder to think it, but perhaps he wants to sell.

Trust me on that chargeback stuff. I know what I'm talking about. I've helped a few sellers here get chargebacks reversed.

I keep a spreadsheet but I just throw all of my receipts into a box after a few weeks. Nine months ago...couldn't tell you.

Thanks jensmome

I don't keep receipts long at all, but I have most everything in a database through Sellers Assistant, and only dump it after about 1 1/2 years or so! I don't do thousands of auctions obviously

So glad he can't do a chargeback, but it really bothers me the lengths people will go to stay or get back on ebay, and in no way, shape or form will I help him, no further contact with him!
