Hey guys.....

This is really not a good way to start off my new eBay career

Firstly, I do get my money back right? There is no way I am paying for having my ad only on for a few hours!!!

Secondly,I would like to know as to exactly why did my auction get deleted:

1.Was it b/c I used the word "b!tch"?
2.The soft porn pics? (I doubt it as many merchants in the adult category use pornography to sell their products)
3.??????

Anyway, I think this is a great forum community. I have been searching for a place like this on the internet for a long time. I sure wish to participate here more often (Can we use html tags in our messages mod?)

Much Love to all,

gmx.

Well.... after reading the prohibited images and descriptions rules you'd have to ask why there is an adult area? What could possibly be in the adult area that is adult ? A nude person ?

could it be because your interpretation of "soft porn" conflicts with eBays rules?

I know nothing about the adult sec.
But it appears you posted the answers to both your questions!

Descriptions or titles in some cases containing profanity

Even the porn movie sellers are very careful with their auctions as ebay doesn't allow much leeway in the photos or descriptions.

You'd have been better off spending some time looking through the categories that you were placing your auctions and seeing what the veteran sellers were doing to stay within ebay's guidelines.

just change that to "HO" and you might get past ebays block. For an adult section this makes no sense at all. Just keep plugging along. [no pun intended]

Absolutely not!!

Do not keep plugging along...

Find out from ebay exactly what it was that triggered the ad to be ended. Then fix it so that it won't be done again. You only get so many 'automatically ended auctions' before they suspend you. I know from experience. Even if you try to get in touch with them and fail, they will can your Butt off of Ebay. Then it is a long drawn out process to get back on ebay.

Do yourself a BIG favor... Contact ebay and find out what it was. They even have a service where you can send your proposed ad to them first and they will tell you if it is okay on ebay.

I have a bunch of bulk magazines that a friend want to consign with me, I am hesitant, already being suspended for a very stupid reason, because my ebay is my livelihood right now.

I'm with Reamond. One wonders why eBay even bothers having an adult section now. It sure didn't use to be like that.

The Mature Audiences area generates a lot of revenue for ebay. Considering the ebay greed factor it's almost impossible to visualize ebay ever closing that section down.

Thank you for replying everybody,

I guess that there is more than one concrete reason that they deleted my ad.

[*] Using the word b!tch

Ok, isn't a b!tch a pregnant dog? (Maybe I should email them and explain that the b-word isn't considered profanity in Canada ) but thank you TRAI for suggesting that I use the word "HO". Seriously, they couldn't consider that profanity?

[*] Parts Of My Description

Most of the wording is clean, family friendly and very well written but these lines could of spoilt it for me:

'that God himself would have wanted to fondle, leaned over and whispered in my ear, "I want to s*ck your cock".'

'Welcome to Fantasy Island"! Let me tell you, this kind of insidious bullsh!t is just guaranteed'

'Not to brag, Ross, but this sh!t is going on all the time now! It doesn't matter how old she is, if she has a boyfriend or husband or if I'm her "type"....NOTHING MATTERS! You're a fuking genius!'

'This woman adores me, not because I am a hunk (because I am not), not because I am rich (because I am not) but because I know what I want, I go after it, and I don't put up with any sh*t! So there is no sh*t and a life without sh*t is better for both of us. Now there are two people who respect and love me...my girlfriend and best of all ME!
Pat McMillen
Crestline, CA' lol (talk about limited vocab!!

What if I replaced some of the letters w/stars? f**k s**t?

Personally, I try my best to eradicate these vulgar words completely from my vocabulary whether verbal or written, of course I didn't write the script to my ad copy.

Do yourself a BIG favor... Contact ebay and find out what it was. They even have a service where you can send your proposed ad to them first and they will tell you if it is okay on ebay.

Yeah INTERCRAFT this sounds like a logical decision. The address that sent me that email is [email protected]. I tried searching the whole site to find what email to email, Does anyone reading this know what the email is regarding these matters?

I desire to have a happy relationship w/eBay and really try to avoid rocking the boat.

God Bless,

gmx

Morning!

I have just completed selling all my Romance books from 50s & 60's, and each time I listed them I worried that Ebay would boot them off. They did boot off 15 of my auctions, with the same reason as you received from them.

Until I realized............anything in the title that referred to by name or pictures.........of ...child, girl, whips, bondage, suffering, incensed, touching of genitals, weather it be a picture or a word,
is not acceptable with Ebay, even under the mature category, ..............If you turn your book covers to not show the pictures, they will also boot your auction off.

I have received a few warnings, until one warning came saying,........this is the last warning, we have given you many warnings if you continue to list this type of material, you will be suspended.

Now I finally figured it all out after listing many of these auctions. This mature site is meant for items that only adults would be allowed to view, but yet they don't like having out of the ordinary topics on sex...............but when I check out the site there were lots of X-rated material that should not have been allowed to stay up on Auction, compared to what I saw, my books were Kindergarten material..........

But you don't argue with Ebay, because you never win.
You just need to follow the guidelines because it is not worth being suspended over.

It's always best to play by the rules, we don't have to like them, but we do have to follow them.

You may add getting thrown off AW to your resume soon if you're not careful. You're not very careful with what you say on auctions or public forums.

I can honestly say I have never been into the adult area, but if you are listing in the adult area don't the buyers realize that the item or items that you are selling are adult. Do you have to put all that junk in your description? Just asking, maybe I better take a look in there. I hope I am not shocked....

I agree with you, all describtions is not necessary for listing when your listing items in the Mature Section, just the titles would be needed.

But some of the titles are not allowed, so reading the guidelines is very important.

If you can't figure out what parts of gmx's post are in strict violation of AW guidelines then that fairly sad.
You must remember that children can easily read these posts too.

The post doesn't really bother me at all but I can easily see a church attender getting upset with the post and emailng an AW moderator.

With all the spam e-mails there is very little that shocks me. But I don't see any point in putting all that description on the board here either. Perhaps you are deliberately trying to get a reaction out of some of us? I know that there are tattletales here so perhaps one of them will report it to AW.

As for children reading this forum? I don't think it's the type of place a child would be attracted to if they got on a computer.

If someone that posts here is allowing their child to read this forum along with them you really have to wonder about that parent. Do little Johnny or Susie have to share everything Momma or Poppa do?

Edited cause of the grammar police.

GMX I am hardly a prude and am certainly old enough to have experienced life in all its glory... but really!!!! this sentence was uncalled for and unnecessary and VERY!! offensive in your description and on this page.
'that God himself would have wanted to fondle, leaned over and whispered in my ear,_____!!
I don't give a hoot what you or anyone else sells but if you want to make a living or just get rid of your extra junk on eBay... trust me and the others who have responded to this post don't pick a fight with ebay they win ALWAYS!

Your last statement about selling a Seduction textbook says it all. Seems to me that just putting that in the auction would be enough. Seduction does not seem to be a bad word. and textbook says it all- teaching help for seduction. PEROID. If that got kicked off then all the adult things should as I crused through there one time and it was revolting ast what they had there- no my cup of tea but then they did not hold a gun to my head to go there either!!!! if the book looks offensive do not put a picture with it. you might mention that contents are adult only contents anyone wanting to know can bid on it.

IRKED you are right. This isn't even porn! It's essentially just self-help literature.
I am still wondering how you can have an ADULT ad in an ADULT category w/out getting booted out!

Anyway...

Made some drastic revisions to the ad copy and re-submitted it to eBay:

[*] Put stars in the cuss words (f**K)
[*] Changed the b-word in the title from "Get any b!tch you want" to "-This book will SHOWYOU how to GET ANYWOMAN!-"
[*] I even put a special message at the bottom of the ad copy: "This auction ad copy has been specifically altered as requested by eBay.com, in endeavour to maintain a harmonious relationship with the eBay staff"

I was deeply surprised when they ended it AGAIN......

We regret to inform you that your eBay auction:

gmx.............did you read my post.......it tells you just what you cant do.
I have been through the same thing with Ebay, and you just need to clean up you listings, and not list....(NOT LIST) any book with explicit pictures and titles with certain words in them,
By doing what your doing using stars, this doesn't change the fact, that what your listing has words or pictures that is against Ebays guidelines.

There is an entire section with guidelines.........I suggest you read it over carefully.

You will not be a winner!......so follow the rules and enjoy your Selling.

Too much of your time is consumed with what is not allowed, try listing what is allowed.

Thank you tonimar!!

I know you have a very good point there and I appreciate getting quality advice from a seller of your experience and wisdom.

However, I am pretty sure that after some modification there has to be a way that they will let a textbook sell.

Thanks though

I just went to pay a visit to the adult section, first time in a while... Things have sure changed there!
I make a really lovely handcrafted "marital aid" type of thing... I tried selling it on ebay, and that adults section was full of auctions like "COLLEGE COED SCREAMS WHEN SHE %^&*!!!!!" and GET YOUR $%& $ %%^&^ED ANYWHERE ANYTIME!!!" and more. My tasteful obect d' art was lost in the sea of hardcore. The auction titles look pretty demure nowadays.
Take a look, use your thesaurus, there are ways to describe absolutely anything in clean, unobjectionable language that your maiden aunt (If you have one) would be able to hear. Consider it a challenge.
