Memo to self: Don't read own feedback file.

2003 is the Year of the Idjit. I've gotten 8 negs so far from people who have no fricken clue how to scratch their rear and breathe at the same time, and 8 from a fellow seller who is trying to rip me off. (Claims non-delivery but is selling "non-delivered" items right now. Another story for another time.)

I admit, yeah, I do get a deserved neg from time to time.

But today's was just too much.

This neg left THREE days after auction ended:

"Seller did not contact me; did not answer multi emails. Poor business ethic"

Can anyone guess the problem here? Yes, friends, Miss I'm-Gonna-Neg-You doesn't use her eBay-registered email address.

I lost it. Hey, sorry, but I have had it up to here with these people who can't manage rudimentary things like two (!) email addresses.

My response in email:

"You stupid [witch-with-a-b].

"You gave us a negative feedback three days after the end of the auction because we sent the invoice to your (pay attention now) EBAY-REGISTERED ADDRESS!

"Were you born this dumb or did you have to learn it?"

This is no newbie. This creature has 33 positive feedbacks and one spanking-new bright-red negative, courtesy of moi.

Damn, I need a vacation.

I have been regretting the stupid-witch comment. That might have been overboard. But when you consider the etched-in-stone nature of feedback and the casualness with which stoopid people try to damage your business, I stop being all that sorry.

Some big sellers pay no attention at all to feedback, not even to refute the obvious lies. I should learn to take that road.

OK. I sent an email apology. No reason I should be stoopid just because she acts that way.

But here's the thing:

The feedback system (which Marie tells us eBay has vowed to keep the same) as it is constituted promotes such incivility. True, I popped off and probably should not have.

But I didn't have the option of emailing the idjit and reasoning with her, because that neg is going to be there forever and a day.* Maybe we could have resolved the situation without trading negs. Now she's not going to get the item and I won't get the sale.

Instead, the system seems to encourage such hostile interaction.

We, like some other sellers, have a clause in our TOS that says "Once you leave negative feedback, we cease all efforts to resolve the issue with you." If neg feedback could be changed, there would be no need for this policy.

*No, I won't pay eBay to remove feedback.

Fluffy - You have NO IDEA how close I came to sending a very similar email to the idiot that negged me Sunday for not answering her email in 24 hours. Instead I sent her a lovely note steaped in sarcasm thanking her for claifying the "Sellers get a Day Off " issue and reminding me that no matter what the circumstances, bithdays, death, accidental maimings be damned, I am absolutely neer allowed to take a single day off.

As for the one that sent 4 negs because she changed her mind on BIN purchases but blamed not yet combined shipping charges.... why bother with a nasty email. I get the supreme please of killing her account Saturday do to Four non-payments.

I love a good raking over the coals probably a bit more than the next guy... but sometimes a little rubbing the hands together with furrowed brow and an evil BWAHAHAHAHA after sending the final filinf to ebay is even better.

OTOH: it does take three FVF credit requests from three DIFFERENT sellers, before feeBay pukes the bidder off with a NARU!

Oh well, feeBay does look out for the pleasure of its pretzel-choking bidders, as opposed to its hard-working sellers!

Fluffy
Next time you get one that drives you up the wall just pull back and think about it before you respond.
Better to cool down than to make yourself look like the dork of the week. Yeah, I know its not always easy as people like that could drive the pope over the edge.

Fluffy this is what you do. Next time you feel you have to vent. Stop in here. Post your negative feedback. Sit back and take some really deep breaths and then go and edit it out. That should make you feel better. At least I hope so.....

Sometimes you get the impression some bidders are just combing E-Bay looking for some poor Seller to torture. Looks like your lucky day.
