Hello All,

I sold 2 items ($130 each) on Jan 29 to a newbie (2 FB).
Here is the email I just received:

Please cancel order for this item, due to computer error this item was over ordered.
If order can not be canceled please advise.

I am an eBay seller since 1999 and believe or not,
this situation is a first for me... I want to stay polite but firm as I will not
cancel the sale. What would be your answer?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Issa

Just tell them what you told us here. This is an auction, not a retail store. Then deal with it from there.

I will not cancel the sale.

If they are a newbie and they accidentally purchased two I'm assuming that they accidentally double ordered. Hold them to the first order then explain the ebay fee situation . Tell them that you usnderstand that it was a mistake and that you want to work with them and will forgive the second item if they will reimburse you for the fees.

You may want to hold fast and insist on on getting payment for both but chances are that all that will accomplish is you getting no payment as opposed to partial and your fees covered.

My mother once told me this story of a horrible rude seller that kept hounding her after she didn't pay for a BIN purchase because unbeknowst to her, my SF had won on an identical item the night before (computer item they needed) She had explained the misunderstanding and appologized pofusely and this guy kept sending her nasty emals (but never negged her). When I asked her is she had at least offered to cover his fees she sid tht she didn't know there were closing fees and that she hadn't even thought of it but had he mentioned it she would gladly have paid him that. She even went back and tried to find his emails but i had been too long.

Moral - some buyers are co-operative and understanding once they actually see the picture from both sides.

It's probably the way they requested to cancel the sale... I am a very understanding person: I canceled two sales last week but the difference was in the manner the previous bidders requested (polite, professional, high FB rating, ect.) I will email back and follow neonmania's suggestion. Lets hope they will pay for the first order.

Thank You very much for your fast responses, I really appreciate!

Issa

P.S.: I don't post a lot but I am here everyday... I learned so much from you all!
