I get no popups. Just to be sure, I typed in some fairly common search terms (kinkade, lauren, nike, barbie) thinking that those sellers would certainly buy spots on any popup campaign.
I would suspect you've inadvertantly loaded an ad-stealing program like TopText. There's some interesting info on these malware programs here

I occasionally get the pop-ups as well. The worse was earlier today actually. I went to delete the two items I had under "Items I am Watching" on My Ebay and not only would I get a pop-up but my Pop-Up Killer would stop the pop-up AND make the entire browser close. I tried several times and it did it each time. Then I disabled the Pop-Up Killer and when I tried to delete again, Ebay asked for my password when I had already put it in to open My Ebay. It was very weird.

You would be absolutly amazed as to how much "stuff" has been covertly loaded onto your PC if you have "cookies" enabled. And, you pretty much have to if you conduct any business on the web.
I use Adware 6.0 to search out all the bad stuff that lurks on my computer. The first time a ran it, it found over 400 pieces of spyware, and adware. It's free at: http://lavasoft.element5.com/support/download/
I bet this will put an end to the pop-ups. At the very least, you'll get rid of the applications that are tracking your internet activities.
