Hi, I have seen some of you refer to selling direct to ReplacementsLtd. and am wondering if you need a special account with them or how to go about setting up a deal. I have some Haviland plates that I emailed a picture of to them for ID and they don't have very many in stock. Don't see anywhere in the email they sent that links to selling to them and wondered if anyone here would be willing to share the info. I listed one on eBay for much less than they are asking and it didn't get a bid. Thanks for any help!

Here is the number to call. Ask for purchasing. 1-800-737-5223.
I have been selling to Replacements Ltd. for 8 yrs. I known as a Star Supplier. Star Supplies get special pricing, we pay $200.00 a yr. for the price guide which is updated every 3 months. You have to sell a minimum of $5000.00 per yr. to maintain this level. I usually sell between $12 & 15 thousand per yr. I am shipping 2 sets of china this week valued at $2500.00.

Ok Maybe a dumb question. Is the price giude what they pay people who are selling or what the price would be if you want to buy?

Mildred; The price guide is for sellers to Replacements Ltd. I gives the $$ they will pay for individual items. There are approx. 6000 manufacturers & 60,000 patterns. i.e. there are over 4000 patterns of Noritake. About the same for Mikasa, Spode, Haviland & several others. The prices they pay range from a dime to over a grand. It is all based on supply & demand. It really has nothing to do with what they sell it for. Ijust sent a Royal Tettau soup tureen which will bring me $202.00.

sanmar: Thanks. Very Helpful. I have gotten quotes on two patterns I have that I want to sell, but sounds like a wonderful guide and is well worth the money. And you know there is a guy I see at Estate sales with a book always and I will bet that is what he has. Always wondered about that. Thanks

Mildred, I never take my pricing guide into a sale or auction. I carry a clipboard . Check the pattern, count the pieces, go back to the car & price it out. I keep this to myself as much as possible. I don't need more competion. I bought a set on Sunday at an auction that I knew I could get $1200.00 for it. I would have gone to $900.00 + 10% premium. I got it for $650.00 + 10%, $715.00 net.

I haven't gotten to go to an auction for a long time, but when I did, I brought along several price guides (before Ebay) and kept them in my truck. I did the same thing you do, made a list of items I was interested in and then went to the truck to check the books and estimate how high I wanted to go.

The guy I see, I have always thought he should do the same thing.

Do you live close to replacements or do you have to ship? I have thought of bringing my two sets, finding someothers and then take a trip to replacements. Good way to pay for a buying trip!!

Mildred I am just about as far away you can get. I live on the Central Coast of CA about 2,500 miles from Greensboro, NC. I have to ship. I always figure at least $40.00,per set to ship. because of unknowns, I have to have at least $100.00 profit to have anything. If I can't make at least $50.00 for time & trouble, then I don't want to get into it
