Wonder if this is commonly practiced. I checked out a couple auctions that ended with no bids and when I clicked on the line where it said Item relisted Go to item, I got entirely different ones with different starting prices, different photos and different discriptions. Only the category and the type items were the same. So if one bombs out on the first, it is possible to try another and if it sells there is no listing fee for that one. Should be worth it for more expensive listings and if e-Bay is not your only source of sales.

buyhigh I'll bet it's done a lot.

Anyone remember the pizza box with the ants.

That seller posted on AW telling everyone how to sell items & get away with not paying another listing fee.
He would list something & if it didn't sell he would junk it & "relist" again using something different.

He was dumb enough to come here & brag about it using his eBay user ID!!! A few days later he was kicked off eBay. Guess he didn't realize eBay reads this message board.

His ID was mboyko & his feedback is somethng else. What an attitude, made me LOL. Also he absolutely refused to combine auctions to save postage. I was surprised anyone ever bid on his auctions, but they did.

Some time back, there was an AW poster that showed up here and outlined this scheme to get free listings. Take an item that didn't sell, relist it and edit out all the old info (title, description, photos etc) and insert an entirely new item for sale. He thought it was a great idea. Ebay didn't. They considered it fee avoidance and booted his butt out the front door so quick he didn't know what hit him. This was the same guy who got negged by a buyer that he shipped a plate to in a used pizza box. He failed to remove the ants from the box before he shipped it.

That was one of my favorites.

Remember he came back again last year in January under another name and he had more ebay problems?

Here it is with links to the original old pizza box thread.

I'm npt sure which is funnier, the details of the shipment, or his response.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Complaint : Item was packaged in old pizza box full of ants. Looked as if had been used.
Response by mboyko - Yeah, but your plate got there safe and sound. So what's the problem?
BTW - Doesn't the other AW offer a built in service along those lines where it grabs available relists when you set up a new auction or did I understand that aspect incorrectly?
Never knew he came back, sorry I missed that.
I noticed there was a link in that thread to his original thread where he held class on how to beat eBay out of listing fees.
He was comitting suicide & didn't even know it.
Edited to ask:
How in the world did you ever find that thread. You really are good.
Now can you post any links to jerry12 threads. What a treat that would be.
You ask me was it worth it? Ebay should be the one asking if it was worth it. . They're going to lose a lot more than 5 bucks. They lost a good seller. I won't tolerate this sort of action on their part. There are other places to sell.
He was paying ebay $100 a month he said. That thread was fun reading once again.
Hi mcjane. Many of the best of jerry12's are gone but here is the turtle lamp one.
Here is the cow one.
Here is another one of his rude feedbacks and replys.
Neutral : PLATE packaged in CEREAL box with newspaper-miraculously in one piece.
Follow-up by dmac925 - Box was not secure--had been squashed & was tearing--left retalitory negative.
Response by mboyko - Plate was packaged neatly & securely; arrived safely. Why is a Cereal Box bad?
Why is a cereal box bad? Because it's a thin box, weak in construction, made for a one time use, and for a light weight item. That's why!
The trouble with the guys that got booted off ebay for avoiding listing fees was that they were stupid and bragged about it on message boards like this. The ones who do it quitely will continue to do so since it appears ebay has no way to track this unless there is someone who has a personal gripe against the seller and reports it. If you have items with bids starting over $100, I'll bet over the 30 day period, you can save a lot.
Thanks for those links! They are wonderful. I wish I had half of jerry's talent for tale spinning. And he really inspired our fellow posters, didn't he- the response, in the Turtle Lamp thread, about using the "anatomically correct" turtle lamps for curling- will keep me giggling all day today....
*sigh* I am inspired now.
I think I may try to spin a tale or two. I've been known to tie up a Nigerian Banker / Oil Contacter / Etc. Do you think I should. Someone has to take Jerry12's place...
relisting an item is not free unless it is sold the second time.
have they changed the policy??
i dont think thats his problem with ebay.
there was an italian girl who bragged on aaol/ebay board that everytime there was a black out ,she complained to ebay and get all her fees back,one month she got 80 dollars back,another month she pay no listing fee.the guy who manned the board knows meg,he must have reported her.
she was thrown out of ebay for that.
mboyko was a hoot.
His shipping boxes were unsusual. I liked the response to the plate being shipped in a cereal box. He was tooooooo much.
He did have a good response for those that didn't like his shipping fees: "Don't like it? Don't bid"
I am sure he is somewhere, right now, packing cds in a dirty tampon box....
to stopwhining - I do not know about myboyko's problem with ebay but while relisting an item is not free unless it sells the 2'nd time, when you relist a different item entirely except for the type of item and category, you certainly get the listing for free. On the other hand if this one sells at least ebay gets the final value "commission"
i thought we pay for the listing fee when we relist the item ,if it sells,it is refunded.
i know once upon atime,it is free,but they changed the policy.
I do have the one about Sylvia the cow saved, but not the other two. What a shame the rest are gone.
I remember there was a Laurel and Hardy salt and pepper shaker one and the penis pump one. Here was jerry12's fastest transaction.
Never saw that reply, typically jerry12
Do you remember the Plastic Vomit post, it was the first one I read.
Yes I certainly do remember the penis pump & the salt & pepper shakers too. I think that was the "how Many Times Do I Pay" post, where he sent cash & the buyer said he didn't receive it so he kept sending it over & over & wanted advice on how long should he keep paying.
I don't have a link, but do remember when he contributed to a post about "Your most Profitable Yard Sale Find"
jerry said he came across a very poor looking elderly couple having a garage sale & noticed a 5 carat diamond ring on the table, 5.00 price tag.
Knowing it was real & the elderly couple didn't, he bought it & also made them throw in a copy of The Pokey Little Puppy that they also had for sale.
He then went straight to a jeweler & sold the ring for 5000.00 & sold Pokey Puppy on eBay for 5.00. He ended saying something like, best yard sale find, profit 5000.00
What was even funnier was a reply from a newby, who obviously didn't know Jerry. She was in a rage because he took advantage of a poor old couple & showed utter disgust. A moderator then posted to tell her to not take jerry12 so seriously.
And this was jerry12's feedback.
The third is a neg.
No neutrals.
