Hi, i was wondering if a potential buyer to your auction asks how much the reserve price is and if you disclose it? I recently had a bidder ask how much the reserve price was on my auction since he really wants the item. What do u guys do? Thanks
Johny

Now that your wrist has been firmly slapped (Fetish, you are such a wench sometimes ) ......

I tell my reserve if asked. If the buyer wants the item they will bid the reserve and with any luck, in the last few minutes, bidding will take me way above as opposed to hoping that last minute bidding will actually meet the reserve.

Hmmmmm!? IQ??? is that short for intelligence quotient???? Looks like 10 to me........

Johny, the reserve price of an item is to protect the investment, that the seller sunk into the item. It is to your advantage to disclose to the potiential bidder, your reserve price. Some sellers list the reserve price in the description. Hope this helps.

I usually disclose the reserve in my auction, that is if I use a reserve. I usually start my auctions with what I would want. I don't like reserves and I never bid on an item that has a reserve.

Libra, Libra, what is wrong with putting a reserve on an item?? If I pay $75.00 for a widget, & start the bidding at $19.95, what is wrong with a reserve of more than I paid for it?
I will always tell the reserve to anyone who asks.

sanmar is right, using a reserve is sometimes the smart way to get bids early instead of starting the item at a high price.

disclosing your reserve is a personal judgement issue. I will always disclose if asked but many here will not tell.

Why would u NOT disclose it?

Is there something I'm missing about u & u'se's auctions?

If I use a reserve, I always state the RESERVE price right in the description, so U don't have to email me for it!

Sorry gang I still don't like reserves and can't see the point...If you want a price of $75 for it, why not list the starting price at what you want?...I can't see the point of listing for $19.95 and have 80 bidders bid on it and none get it because they only bid up to $60...I don't bid on reserve auctions either...but thats just me...I haven't checked but it is an advantage in saving ebay fees to put a reserve on the item, and starting it at $19.95 versus starting it at the $75?...

j12: the game revolves around getting bidders just to LOOK at one's auctions!

If I have an item with a suicide price (to me) of, say $400, I really CANNOT list it with a starting price of $400 because, sadly, NOBODY WILL LOOK AT IT!

Psychologically, I HAVE to start it at (say) $49.99 with a RESERVE price of $449.99 -- but in my auctions, I always disclose the RESERVE in LARGE RED PRINT!
