Anyone know what this magnifying glass is used for? It looks "technical" to me but I couldn't find a manufacturer's name. It does have a patent number (73207663). It's on a black metal stand (sort of what microscope stands look like). The magnifying glass is on a metal rod. The metal rod has several screws/clips on both ends. The magnifying glass is also attached to the rod so it can be moved from side to side. As usual, any help is appreciated.

It looks similar to a tool I used to use when soldering wires. The magnifier was for small wires. I haven't seen one in 20 years

Thanks...Would it be called a "wire soldering magnifying glass" or does it have a more technical name?

It's a soldering aid. The two sockets at the end of the arms accomodate alligator clips. It's for holding two small wires in contact with each other while they are being soldered, sort of like an extra pair of steady hands for the person doing the soldering. The magnifying glass is for watching the excess hot solder as it drops from the tip of the iron, rolls across the wife's best tablecloth, and onto the floor, burning a hole in the new carpet. Been there, done that and have scars to show for it

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I think eBay is planning on mailing those out the buyers.

It's a "helping hand" that seems to be missing the hands...

There should be some aligator clips on the ends of the arms to hold the wires to be soldered.

These are available at many tool stores for only a few dollars.
