I got an email from ebay a short while back that i have been meaning to mention here .... they insinuated that on our "me" page, we were not permitted to actually INVITE people to our website on there! ... we CAN have a link, but we cannot use verbage that 'asks them' to visit the site to shop ......... they said if i didn't change the wording within xxx amount of time, that they would be forced to change it for me, although they 'don't like to have to do that' ......... well, i went and changed it right away, BUT, ya know i'm so html adverse, that my webstore 'word' wasn't even a freakin' hotlink [like i know i'm allowed to use] .... [someone here tell me how to html it to a link please? thanks] ... also, it was weird, that the very next email in my box was also from epolicebay saying that i had 'stuff' in my ME page that wasn't permitted regarding things i was willing to trade for etc, and it wasn't even OUR ebay name/account they were addressing ..... i had written back to them about that one, and they wrote back, 'you're right, sorry, we meant to send that to a different person' blah blah ............. i do invite people sometimes on my customers feedbacks to visit our webstore, ... wonder if i will get in trouble for that. [sigh] Big Brother against lil' ol' me. ... er... lil ol' MePage.

Marcia

p.s. edit ... the point i'm making here, is that I was SO surprised that they even policed the ME page at all ... my page had had the same wording on if for YEARS, ... and then i got that email from them? ... sheesh.

I wouldn't doubt that someone turned you in. Maybe a seller that sells the same items. I find it hard to believe also that eBay has the time to do that when there are sellers that need to be policed.

Yah, libra ... but it's just a wiiiiide myriad of antiques we sell, AND the guy they also sent a notice to [that did NOT belong to our ebay membership] had a totally 'different' violation than what they pointed to in ours .... he wanted to 'trade blah blah for blah blah' .... i simply said, please see our online store at www.x~xx.com to shop for more fine antiques and collectibles ...... it was like totally differnt 'violations', and they were having somebody at ebay go thru a lot of ME page to look at verbage ...... w e i r d .... like i said, i had what i thought was quite innocent words on my page asking people ot check out our website for more things to buy. .... and that had been our ME page for about 3 years! ...

Well........I've seen "visit our website" a lot on eBay and never though anything about it.

Dadofstickboy,
There is just one little thing missing. An = sign.

I wish eBay would spend more time investigating fraud than wasting time on things like this.

Hi dadofstickboy,
I write all my own html using notepad. There is nothing more frustrating than building an entire page and then finding it won't work (especially in netscape). I was searching through 240 lines of html for hours once because I forgot a " . I wasn't being picky just trying to help.
Cheers,
Adrian
