I receive email regularly from a fabric seller when he uploads new auctions on Ebay. Tonight I received the usual email, clicked on the link in his email, looked at his auction listings and closed the browser page. A survey from Ebay popped up asking me a number of general questions. Most were mutliple choice, but some had boxes to type in what I thought they need to change/not change.

You might try and see if you get the same. I know they are restructuring the "Crafts" area of "Toys and Hobbies" (where Needlework, Fabrics, Sewing, etc. is located) and will be moving it to the "Home and Garden" area. You may have to close your browser while in the Crafts area to be surveyed.

Might be the perfect chance to share your views with Ebay! Or give them a piece of your mind...

I have to wonder, how much attention they actually pay to the comments you make. Doing a survey is great as long as they are honest with the results. If 95% of Ebayers had negative things to say, do you believe they would publish that? Or would they manipulate the survey to make them look better than they actually are? I think the latter is the more likely scenerio.

Cheryl,

I doubt that they intend to publish the results. It is more likley trying to gauge buyer/browser use of the site so they can gear it toward generating more bids. The reasons they stated they are moving the Crafting categories from the Toys and Hobbies is that it is not getting enough bids.

They asked questions like did I go in to browse the category or look at just what one seller had to offer. It asked a number of questions about that particular trip, if I shop favorite sellers regularly, if I bid this trip, how often I buy on Ebay, and so on. I think it's a case of Ebay trying to establish a pattern for those that shop the category/area I was in so they can increase traffic/bids/revenue.
