Are there any other marks (hallmarks) indicating that this is Sterling? We have a number of pieces with this mark (purchased new ca 1970s), but they are all silverplate.

Just pulled the box out of the china closet, and the paperwork was still with it.
According to the card, it is Silver Gift Company, Toledo Works, Sheffield England (with a mailing address of P.O. Box 221, Danbury CT.)
This particular item is a salad set in the "Georgian" pattern. According to the card...the classic and simple beauty of this favored Georgian pattern in heavy silverplate is so designed that it may be used with any flatware or holloware pattern...etc.
This was purchased in 1975, Sharfman's Jewelers, Worcester MA.

Thanks so much for the information, damariscotta! I knew it was heavy--probably that's why I thought it was sterling.
I appreciate this information. Now I can sell this without worrying what I"m calling it. Happy Sunday to you and yours!

Roadsmith
I don't know how to make this into a link--but is an excellent reference for English silver hallmarks. The radio buttons are the links. Also, there is worldwide silver info--30 countries.
