If Vendio doesnt come up with some changes to their "new" and "improved" create listing in Sales Manager I will be forced to look for another program....I am not html literate beyond the basics and don't want to create templates on my own - i would like to be able to save about 10 different boiler plate listing write-ups so I have to change just a few items to create a new listing...any ideas??

Hi.
Yes.
Use AW.

I still think Vendio (AW) has the best service for the money. Create your plates in a program like FrontPage. Then just copy and past the html into Vendio. It takes me no time at all to post my listings this way. And, before you know it, you'll learn more html, too.

Checked it out, koto1, and Vendio is still more economical for what you get.

I have tried just about everybody -- nobody has got it quite PERFECT yet ...but, here's my un-scientific opinions:

1) AW: the STORES are a FANTASTIC DEAL! However, I have not listed auctions through AW for over 1 year because I became very frustrated. To me, the fee structure seems a bit complicated to figure.AW must be really good, as there are thousands of folks satisfied with them! I'm just delighted that they aren't greedy about the stores! If EVERYTHING worked like the STORES function does, I might use them again

2) CA: used to be the BESTEST, until they decided to become a BIG SNOOOOTY BIZNUS! The subscription has jumped to $30/month, which I felt was OUTRAGEOUS! Plus, there is a problemo with BROADBAND users -- CA slows down the faster your connection is...go figure! They deny it of course. Plus their "CS" has really become...

3) AH: not bad, but the owner kept "tweaking" the site all the time with unnecessary changes...plus, he struck me as a bit hysterical about the "FREE" 2 week "TRIAL!" (LOL!)

4) WORKS: totally incomprehensible gibberish to me!

5) ANDALE: Stay away from andale!

6) SD: WOW! Tomas keeps improving every day & just celebrated the site's 1st birthday! For $4.95/month ye get ooodles of goodies!

7) DEADZOOM: GREAT people with good pics hosting for peanuts! Lots of great tools & tidbits for FREE!

Right now, I use SD for hosting & auction launching, combined with feeBays SELLER'S MANAGER for PSM -- total monthly fees = $11 & I'm pretty satisfied!

Another vote for SD - great service - and no FVFs.

ADDENDUM TO ABOVE: I think SD works super for us low volumn sellers (<50/week)!

If I were launching more than 50/week, then I'd have to go with either CA or AW -- but since CA has become so FULL OF THEMSELVES, I'd lean towards AW!

Just make sure ya pick the apperopriate plan! I know that AW's CS is very helpful in assistance with this!

Before switching, why not try sales manager pro? It is much faster and easier than the online listing is (or was).

I also vote for SD. With new features being added daily, it's great. You can make your own boilerplate templates or use his ready-made ones. It has an extremely active message boards, too.

For $4.95/mo you get picture hosting, gallery, embedded gallery, templates, html features, scheduled launching, automated WBN's, ready-made e-mails (for rec'd payment, shipping, reminders), packing slip, tracking, counters.

Edited to add: The first month is free to allow a learning curve.

If you need advise, he doesn't act like you don't exist.

Tomwii:
I have broadband and have no problem with CA. I've seen quite a few people complain about the speed, but I haven't experienced that. I still think they are the best around, but it does help being grandfathered into their pricing structure.

The problem with CA is that if you sell the same item on eBay, Yahoo, Amazon, and eBay stores, you have to have FOUR completely seperate listings. That's a lot of duplication to manage.

Their import mechanism stinks too. You still have to edit a bunch of stuff after sending them the file.

I like WORKS. It does everything. Import, export, ONE ad per item, regardless of where you sell it, a nice storefront and excellent reporting.

I use both AWs right now and quite frankly, I am considering dropping AW and going just with Works as it is much faster (I know, I know.... try SMP - would love to if it were Mac comptible) and once you adjust to their system, much easier.

Thanks all - appreciate the input. Sighhhhh..I like everything about AW except the "new" listing method , specifically the way categories are now handled and , based on my thread in the Vendio community area, looks like it's not scheduled to change in near future. The squeaky wheel gets greased - maybe if enough people registered complaints about it they would get techies working on resolving the category issue...i hope this isnt a sign that VENDIO is going the snooty way of CA !

Cheryl - i think Front Page sounds like a good idea but in the end, copying and pasting will take as much time as AW now takes - ( I tried doing that with SD and found it too time consuming)

Thanks tom for all the good info..I liked SD too but it didn't work too well with my volume (when Im up and running i have about 350 active auctions - ive been on vacation so Im trying to catch up and this new listing thing is NOT HELPING!)Tomas is great and what a bargain!

Sapington:
Did they change the way categories are handled in Sales Manager Pro too? I tried it once but had too many images it seemed...how do you who use SMPro handle the images?? Do you have to delete right after the auction ends? How do you relist?

My plan is to add unsold items to my store (haven't had time to do that yet) and will need to keep my images around awhile...I have about 4400 images in AW /Vendio now..my memory is that when you "synch" (or whatever it is called), your AW images load back to your desktop..is that true? can you specify which ones you would like to use instead of having them all load? Thanks all for the help ..Mary Ann

The bad thing about works is that they only have so many slots on free listing day for listing. They que your auctions so you have to list early to get a spot in the que. If you list for 10am they may go at 4pm or not at all. When I used them I was lucky and got mine launched early so they went out but there were a lot of unhappy works customers on free listing day.

ewora- Last FLD in December, I listed 8000+ items through Aworks.

You are correct that they were delayed by a few hours, but I planned ahead and had no problems. My stuff was set to go at 2pm, and they launched between 6-10pm. For 8000 Free Listings, I can live with it.

I did have a lot of trouble like you describe the previous year, but I think they have that fixed now. Most auction services, including eBay itself have problems n FLD.

I'm fairly new to auction software. Can someone please share the names that go with the initials CA, AH, and SD?
I left Auctionworks for AW/Vendio because of the templates and layout limitations, plus because the description could not be disconnected from the title, so I could not handle listings differently in my store than I did for my auctions. AW/Vendio's post sale management options also seemed much better, but it has been nearly a year since I was there. Thanks!!!
