I am a clothing seller and have always used the gallery. This costs about $150 a month in additional fees. Has anyone taken a close look at the pros and cons of using the gallery?

My personal opinion is that I find it very helpful for clothing. I will tend to not click on items that don't have gallery photos - if it's something that I have to search through pages of to see....like if I just type in dress and my size. Gallery is only a penny starting tomorrow and going through Thursday. After that you could always to a test run for a week and see if sales go down.

I think it depends on the item your selling. It didn't make a difference in clothing for me...but collectibles do better.Run a test ...do half with and half without and see which ones gets more hits.

Well if gallery listings are only a penny for the next few days, I'll hold off on a test. I'll run a 50/50 split on next weeks listings.

I've been selling children's clothing very sucessfully for almost 2 years and the gallery feature is well worth 25 cents - I've run tests and found that it does increase my bids considerably. Even more important are several good precise pictures of what you're selling. My sell rate is about 92%. I love when ebay runs these penny gallery days!

I use gallery on certain items that will look good in that small picture. I sell some items that you need the big picture or it doesn't sell. eBay has made buyers lazy by adding that small picture as they don't have to click on the auction anymore. Well, maybe not lazy but if they find what they want by the gallery picture then they don't click on the auctions that don't have it. Of course it is to their advantage (eBay) because sellers use that to draw people to their auction because some buyers will not click on auctions that have no gallery picture.

I'll steer clear of most auctions that do not have a photo icon ( there are about 5% of all ebay auctions that have zero photos in them ) but a gallery photo makes no difference to me. When it's penny gallery promotion time for a penny I spend the penny but that is the maximum I'd ever pay for it at any time.
