How do you print out Delivery Confirmation labels at the USPS website? Delivery confirmation is supposedly available for first class, parcel post and media mail packages, but I only found instructions for adding delivery confirmation with priority and express mail shipping labels.

You are supposed to download the shipping assistant software for other that priority but you can just use the online priority label and cut the top off. When you go to the post office, they will do it just like if you had a green barcode label on it but the price changes to 13 cents when they scan it.

The nice thing about seller assistant is that you can have it email your customers with the delivery confirmation number very easily. It's an extra step, but since I have switched to this system last year, I haven't had a single package that says delivered not get there. Having the DC number by email probably tells crooks that they aren't going to be able to email me and ask where the package is...It's 13 cents well spent.

You don't have to download anything to get Delivery Confirmation. Here is the web address for the USPS labels. If you package is priority leave the label as it is printed, but if it is first class cut the Priority Part off.

What is the official USPS policy on scanning eDC labels (at the counter)? Some of the post offices here scan them, others won't (meaning one can get away with free eDC on 1st class items). The policy (if there's one) doesn't seem to be consistent.

Huh?

You're not "getting away" with anything. When the package is scanned on receipt, it gets Postage Due slapped on it if the eDC hasn't been paid for.

What's worse is that if the receiving PO determines that the package DID NOT QUALIFY for First Class eDC, they will charge the recipient a $3.85 Priority Mail charge. I have had this happen to me. It is horrifying.

There's definitely an issue as many post offices around here don't have a clue what the correct procedure is with eDC labels. I think out of the six or seven post offices I use, only two or three will scan the label at point of sale. At one post office, the clerk wasn't sure what to do with it (it was a priority package so it wouldn't have been a problem either way) and ask his supervisor and he insisted that they didn't scan the labels.

Very interesting what you said about packages being delivered postage due...there needs to be some clear policy handed down for them to follow as there doesn't seem to be one right now.

I use stamps.com. It is 13¢ for DC for first class with their software. It's free for priority.

The one post office I go to places the package on the scale and if it below the priority weight it is 1st class. Then the postal clerk scans the DC label and their machine automatically charge 13 cents. If they don't hit the DC button then they don't charge you but then maybe the person you are sending the package to will get a postage due.

The other Post office I go to doesn't have updated equipment and he adds the 13 cents into the postage. This post office cannot scan my label but it is scanned when it gets to a main post office.
