Hello all,
I am new here and to ebay. I recently signed up for the purpose of spring cleaning. I have alot of stuff to get rid of and dont have the time or patience for a yard sale. Here is my question though. Alot of what I am trying to get rid of is basically decorator stuff I have had in my little cluttered house way to long. I have like 8 Boyds Bears. I am not looking to make lots of money off them I just thought a couple buck was better than throwing them away.

Any how can I say that they are Boyds Bears or is that one of those things were you need some sort of contract with Boyds. I dont know what to do and any help you guys can offer would be great.

I read through the user agreement but it is sort of hard to understand.

You absolutely are allowed to use the brand name when selling your item. Good Luck.

gozar: selling Boyds is fine -- GOOD LUCK! What ain't fine is saying: "Just like Boyds Bears!"

Thanks for your helpful answers. I just wanted to make sure I was making a major boo-boo. On to listing then.

". . . and dont have the time or patience for a yard sale."

Gozar: Respectfully, selling on ebay takes an awful lot of time, too! Do some research on your decorator items (by brand name if possible) and see if it's worth all the time to photograph, list, follow up, etc. It may be that you could sell the Boyds Bears and then see if you want to take that much time for other things with no ID on them.

You *may* be better off with a yard sale, after all. OR--donate to a charity or thrift shop and take a generous write-off amount for your decorator items. Just my humble opinion, of course. On the other hand you may make thousands of dollars, in which case I'd eat my hat!

I agree with Roadsmith. I listed 13 auctions last night and I figure I put about 8 hours with all the work required and that's not the time I will put in after the auctions go off. One thing good I can say is that I have had fantastic buyers

I agree...as I tell my husband..it's a food chain! Some people sell at yard sales and are thrilled with the $ they get..some people buy at yard sales and are thrilled with the deals they get and then they list on eBay and are thrilled with the profits they make...selling on eBay is NOT EASY!! I put in LONGGGGGGG days - 7 days a week - it certainly isn't for everyone!

I figure I used to spend this much time playing Bridge on-line ...and it sure beats substitute teaching...my bridge game has gone to hell but I am happy as a clam!

As for Spring cleaning.....WHO HAS TIME???

eBay DOES take a lot longer than many people realize (except the folks here, of course)...but have to say, "Neglus"...(you sound like a kindred soul)...I substitute teach too...AND play Bridge and still have time to do my "eBay thing". I generally have only about 21 auctions going in a week which is about my outside limit. I box and pack in front of the TV (my living room looks like "Boxes, Inc"in the evenings and can mail them off during planning periods on my substitute days. I'm with you 100% on the housecleaning though...my cleaning gets done the day before my Bridge group meets at my house!

I decided to "do eBay" full time and figure I have to have about 350 postcard auctions running..I don't even want to talk about my house..it's a good thing I play bridge online and don't even have to get ready for the bridge group!! I haven't seen my dining room table since Thanksgiving!

Everybody is right EBAY is not for everyone and it does take allot of time. Right now I am a full time ebayer and it takes the better part of the day.

I do get to see my kids everyday and find out how everything went in school. So that makes everything worth it.

Researching, doing inventory, answering emails, packing, shipping, going to the PO, UPS, or FEDEX. FEDEX is my choice now cheaper (IMO).

And as for my house I just picked up 2 uhaul van loads of computer equipment and my attic and basement look like a computer store with out the shelves or nice displays.
