Hey all,

I recently had a large auction end, and I've fiddled around with a high bidder that has strung me along for a while. The latest story is that he will stop in Saturday to pick his stuff up, but I really don't believe him.

Can I contact the second highest bidder just to gauge his interest without actually officially using the second chance offer? I'm not trying to avoid fees, I just don't want to commit to buyer #2 until after I know for sure about buyer #1, but I would like to set the groundwork for buyer #2's payment.

I don't seem to be able to find out the guy's email without making an official 2nd chance offer.

I don't see a problem with this as long as you actually go through ebay to complete the sale if your first bidder backs out.

You can see the e-mail address of all your bidders while the auction is active but afterwards I think you only get the high bidder's address.

I know some capture the addys of all their bidders while the auction is running just in case they want them later.

Supposedly ebay does it this way now to discourage off-site sales.

I wasn't really asking if was OK or not, I can't imagine anyone objecting. I was more interested in the part about HOW to get their address.

Kiara's mail leads me to believe it can't be done.

Anyone get an answer that I really WANT to hear?

If you know their ebay ID, you can contact them through ebay by clicking on their user ID. You won't be able to find their email address until they reply to you.

I had a friend who had this happen recently. He wanted to contact the underbidder, for the same reason, just to see if there was interest. He could'nt once the auction ended. I made contact for him by going into the bid history of the ended auction , clicking on the underbidders name, and the ebay " ask a question" form popped up.I guess that information is available to anyone but the seller. I relayed the message that if he ( the underbidder) was still interested in the item, it was now available. In the message I told him that any deal would be made through the proper ebay channels with "second chance offer", not outside of ebay. He had no problem replying immediately to my friend through the "ask a question" form which was available to the underbidder on the ended auction page. Do you have someone who could do this for you?
