I used to use Andale for gallery photos, but had so many problems with them that I stopped. When I tried to stop Andale's picture hosting service, they kept trying to bill me for "one more month." It got to the point that I deliberately changed my payment info with them so that they couldn't bill me anymore. I like having a gallery so I did a search on Google for auction gallery services and came across this one (no, I am not being paid to promote them). Thought I'd share the link with all of you:

http://mygallery.timegonebuy.com/

It was easy to personalize and I was never asked for a credit card number so I think with them "contributions" are optional. Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think. The only problem I am having with this gallery is I have a picture not showing up and I can't figure out how to fix that. I'm going to email them just to see how long their support takes to answer technical questions. Ah, the real test. So, opinions please. Did I make a good move or will I be beating myself over the head like with Andale?

Edited because every time I used a quote, it ended up with a slash. Any ideas why?

Their support is: WUNDERFUL!

What a super guy with a super service!

Before I discovered SD, I used "My Auction Gallery" for about 2 years & was VERY HAPPY with it!

Although there is no sign-up fee, he does depend on monthly donations (commensurate with one's usage) for bandwidth survival!

I did make a donation. I believe in supporting the little guy! I love how you can customize it with different backgrounds. Not like Andale's ugly colors. I just emailed them my problem and will await his response. No doubt he'll get back to me quicker than Andale.

I used My Auction Gallery too and LOVED it - it was a neat little gadget! Unfortunately the suggested contribution amount (think for me it would have been $20/mo)got too high to justify using it for the number of hits it got so I switched to using the free Vendio store as a gallery (don't get many hits there but at least its free)..I agree the support was wonderful at MAG!

Would somebody explain to me just how this works? If I don't have a web page, how can I have a gallery somewhere on the web? Or do I just upload my pictures into the Google site? And then do I need a link on my ebay auctions? ~Ignorant in Southern California

Your auction images are displayed in your gallery. You do not need a web page. They do all the work for you. You provide them with your Ebay name and such. There are options to go back in and change backgrounds, etc. You just have to be sure that you use the same image hosting company all the time. If not, you have to email them to let them know you've changed services. They corrected my photo problem in record time!!!

NICE! Looks like they've added some new backgrounds! Do you still have to manually update your auctions or does MAG go in each night and "read" your new ones? It took me so much time to add items each day to my gallery because they could only handle 15 at a time...did they fix this?

edited to add: Can you tell I'm wasting time between listings? I think I have put my two cents worth on every thread here!! SIGHHHHH..back to work.

Okay, further questions: Is My AuctionGallery the Google one?

And once I have an auction gallery, where, (in, on, near, or around)my actual auctions on ebay would this appear? Or would there have to be a link?

Is it as simple as it sounds?

I don't think it has anything to do with Google. However, when I did a search for auction gallery services, several of the sellers' pages that use this service came up in the search. They provide a link, but it can automatically be put into your auctions. I have included the link permanently in Vendio by going into My Account, clicking on Global Preferences and putting it into Default Listing Text. It's an easy gallery to use and so far, the support has been terrific.

You can try it out and it won't cost you anything. If you don't like it, you can cancel it. They ask for donations but they aren't mandatory.

Cheryl,

After you filled out the registration, how long did it take to receive the login information?

Okay, one last question, I promise (at least for now!):

Does have the gallery with your auction items increase the uploading time for your auction description?

I suppose, and correct me if I'm wrong, if there's just a clickable link and not the whole gallery showing automatically, that would not increase the uploading time?

I'm about 5 minutes away from giving it a try, thanks to all of you here.

It took about 24 hours. By the time I got my password, they had everything all set up. I just went in and customized it. They also check to make sure your images are showing properly. What service!

Roadsmith

It doesn't increase the time of anything. You are provided a link button that you put on your auction page. The gallery itself loads quite quickly.

Cheryl - do you have to update to add your new auctions or is this done automatically now? Thanks..Mary Ann

Ooops, I do have ONE more question, but it's a big one:

I usually have anywhere from 2 to 6 photos per auction. If I chose the automatic loading that MAG provides, how do "they" know which of the photos I want in this gallery?

Would I need to do this manually to be sure the one I want is showing? Otherwise, would MAG just pick the first one from every auction?

They are automatically added. However, you need to go into your gallery and check the box next to the new item to indicate you want it in your gallery. Simple. Also, when an auction ends, it will be automatically removed. You can also manually remove items.

Roadsmith
I believe they choose the first photo, but I don't know for sure. I also have mutiple pics including my logo. I just emailed them to ask how you change that. My logo is the first pic and I don't want that as my auction photo. I'll post here when I have an answer from them.

Cheryl,

I signed up and received an email from the owner saying that they are in the process of migrating to new servers so it will be several days before than create a new account.

I'm looking forward to it!

I got the reply to my question. My concern was my logo showing up as my auction photo. As long as you keep your auction template consistent, no problem. What I would do is maybe email them when you sign up and ask them how you can specify which photo - say the 1st one in your listing. I don't think it really matters which photo shows (as long as it's not just your logo). They fixed the logo problem right away for me and now I shouldn't have to worry about it. I've been quite the nag to them lately and the help they've given me is superior!!
