I recently purchased a lovely vase. The lady I purchased it from insisted it was crystal, but is there a way I can be sure? On the bottom it just says "France". It is very heavy, and the flowers, which I think I lilies, stand out from the glass quite a bit. Does anyone know the name of it? Have any idea of value etc?

I am not good at picturing glass at all, I have done it with a white and a black background, doesn't really do justice to it. Glass is very clear. Pattern is on the back and front.

I know Mikasa makes vases like this and I am sure it is crystal. Can't give you a price though because we have an outlet store and those aren't the true prices.

Lira: Would Mikasa vases have "France" written on the bottom?

Amber I really don't know about the vases but I think some of their stemware does. Mikasa sells under many different names also many different countries.

I have checked all the Mikasa web sites that I can find, and the Mikasa on eBay, and none mention being made in France, only Germany. Does anyone else have any ideas please?

Does any one else have any ideas on the make of this vase please? Can't find any autions with France written on the bottom of Mikasa. I don't want to list it under the wrong name.

Cristal D'Arc ? The other French makers are Daum, Lalique, Coman and Vadan. But this isn't in that league and it would be signed differently.

And it looks pressed (molded) not cut. Crystal is cut; glass is pressed. Plus it has a kind of lip. Crystal is very smooth. Look at the bottom. Is it polished? Or does it look more like the bottom of a tumbler. If "France" is impressed not etched you definitely have glass.
