Hi. Did anyone else here receive a Bidpay e-mail saying that the Bidpay money orders they received from ebay bidders may bounce at the bank? If so, does anybody know about how long it should take before you can feel safe and not worry about a bank notice? I asked Bidpay for help a couple weeks ago about a bidder that gave a totally different name and COUNTRY than shown on his Bidpay payment, and Bidpay only responded with a canned reply 7 days later. As you may know, Bidpay tells sellers to report any situation where a bidder wants items shipped to an address other than the address they gave to Bidpay. Well, I had the deluxe version apparently: the name, address, and country were different. I was amazed that Bidpay (or anybody) could surpass ebay's lack of customer service, but they did. I'm going to email Bidpay about this new development regarding their money orders, but won't hold my breath expecting a response, judging from my last experience with their customer service.

I've noticed other sellers on other discussion boards and newsgroups talking about the Bidpay money order situation. Does
anyone know for sure if Bidpay will reimburse sellers for each bank fee if the money orders are refused by the bank?

Thanks
Jack

From who? Bidpay? Are you sure?

Bidpay issues WU money orders, I don't see how it's possible for one to bounce.

Here's a copy of the notice I received below. As I mentioned earlier, other newsgroups are discussing this also (check out Google).

Jack

Dear (XXXXXXX),

BidPay.com recently became aware of a problem involving our money
orders arising from the printing of incorrect bank information on
the instrument. In the course of investigating and fixing this
problem, we have identified one or more money orders recently sent
to you by us that may have incorrect bank information.

We have corrected this problem and our money orders are now being
appropriately routed through the banking system. If you have not
yet deposited or cashed this money order or other money orders
from us, please do so at your earliest convenience. All money
orders will be processed and paid as usual.

However, there was a small percentage of money orders that were
returned as unpaid before we had a fix in place. If your money
order was in this group of returned items, we will be sending you
a replacement money order shortly, if you have not already
received it.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this situation
may have caused you. We have taken appropriate steps to correct
the printing problem and to make sure that such inconveniences
do not occur again in the future. If you have any questions
or concerns about what has happened and what is being done to
address the situation, please feel free to contact BidPay
customer service directly by using the Contact Us form at

Thank you for your patience and for accepting BidPay.com as

Blackjack21:

Your not the only one... I got the notice too! I must say that I am less than satisfied with Bidpays service lately. Back at the end of March, I received a $350.00 Bidpay Money order back from my Bank that had a "Stop Payment" on it. I didn't even know that was possible! I called up the Bidpay support line and after about a week of trying to track down the problem, and dealing directly with a supervisor, they were able to figure out that it was a glitch in their system (of course they aren't sure why it happened... but assure me it won't happen again!). They told me to fax them my bank statement with the bounced-check fees and told me they would re-imburse me for the fees plus the money order. Well... about a week later, I received the $13.00 for my bounced check.... BUT I have yet to receive the $350.00 from the original Money order. I called the supervisor last week, and he assured me I should receive it this week.... Well... it's Friday.... and I haven't seen it yet! Considering all the free promotion that I give Bidpay in my eBay auctions AND in my End-of-Auction notices, I am more than a little disgusted. I am seriously thinking of reccommending Payingfast instead. Bidpays customer service needs some improvement. Their representives are very nice, polite, and do return phone calls fairly promptly. However... After 2 months...I'm still out $350.00!!! Somethings wrong with that!
Like you... the notice I just got has me wondering just how I'll be affected by it. I receive somewhere between 5-10 bidpay money orders a week... so I could be hit pretty hard. I really don't like the idea of my checking account being screwed up because of Bidpays mistakes. I guess there's not much to do except keep a close eye on my account. I wish you the best of luck too!

Wow! I haven't had any of those problems with Bidpay, and sure as hell hope I never do. I love their service because I feel better protected against International Fraud, but I guess I will have to keep a close eye on it as well.

If I was out $350, I would consider filing a complaint with the Feds. That will raise an eyebrow and get the ball rolling.

Rustygumbo,

I also hope nobody else has these problems! I've been the model of politeness in my past 10-20 or so last phone calls... but my patience is wearing quite thin. If I have to call the supervisor again next week... I will have some choice words with him. I do honestly believe that he is trying his best to resolve the problem... but I am also getting the impression that the right-hand does not know what the left-hand is doing. Originally when I called them, they told me that there wasn't a stop-payment on the money order... even though when I called Western Unions money-order hotline it clearly said there WAS a stop-payment on it. I can tolerate many things in life... but repeated incompetence in business just isn't acceptable. I do not want to have to discontinue my service with them... but I can't afford to do business with a company that robs me of $350.00 either. I will be sure to point that out the supervisor next week. I am more than willing to give them one more chance to make good... but the federal complaint idea is sounding better and better!

I also received one of those emails from Bidpay saying some of the checks that they sent out were incorrectly written or something like that. Not happy with this situation at all! I wrote them and am still waiting for a response. This is absolutely ridiculous that this could have even happened in the first place. I also am thinking about not using them any more either. We promote their service on our auctions and website as a secure and easy service to use. Well this has me re-thinking that! I think as sellers we all deserve better service and security than what they obviously have been providing.

Have you heard of payingfast.com? The same basic service as bidpay except that they're a little cheaper, they allow up to $75 for non auction payments and their customer support is excellent.

Competition can be a good thing.

I've used Payingfast.com approximately 10 times & I've been very satisfied with them!

They could really give BidPay a run for the money, as it appears BP no longer has its act together?? Where's that phantom Marek these days, or did we scare him off these little-ole-sweetie boards??
