I don’t see anything on the boards on this so either is no big deal or I missed it but if you use PP you MUST go in and modify the guarantee or you will be giving a blanket 30 day warranty for everything. I suggest a heads up on this.
Kind regards
David

I was wondering when someone would start a thread on this.

I got the email yesterday or today about the new slant. I read most of the rules but still can't decide whether or not to opt out. If Paypal has in bold that "this purchase is not money back guarantee" will buyers decide to back out of the deal? On the other hand if buyers just decide they don't want the item after all and want their money back will it show up bad on our paypal record?

The rules say the buyer returns the item back to them (Paypal) which seems a little odd. What will they do with all that "stuff"? Probably set up a new selling catagory "returned merchandise" and sell it themselves? It just doesn't make much sense to me. There is A LOT of criteria for the buyers to meet also so maybe it isn't a quick fix for the buyers remorse group but then it might be...I went to the page but couldn't decide.

I'll wait and see what other have to say before making my choice. Why is everything so hard and with so many options anymore?

It's something that is offered to sellers on a selective basis - as I understand... By invitation. If you're eligible, you should have been notified... You can tell, if you go to your profile page and down the right list of items, you'll see the "Guarantee" link...

I got kinda concerned, but then started to look into it.... Here's what I found:

In Q&A's:
Does the Money Back Guarantee program come with any additional cost or liability to sellers?

No, sellers will not incur any additional cost or liability. A buyer who is not satisfied with his or her item can go to PayPal to request a reimbursement. Sellers, however, will continue to be bound to the terms in the Seller Protection Policy as they were before.

Hope this helps a little....

Notice one thing in common all these Paypal changes in policy have? They all pit the buyer and the seller against each other, with PP the financial beneficiary of the PP-created distrust.

It's probably one more Paypal plan to shakedown sellers and/or buyers for more money. Like when they tried the "unconfirmed" or "unverified" seller stunt a ways back, in order to scare your customers, so you'd hopefully back down and give Paypal your credit card or checking account info so you could suddenly be considered honest by Paypal's decree. I love it when you pay for something via Paypal and use a credit card, and the Paypal screen begs you to reconsider and give them permission to delve into your checking account, because you might miss out on their weekly $1,000 drawing. Ever hear of anybody winning it? Me neither. Why are they trying so hard to establish a history of you giving them permission to access your bank account, hmmm?

If you qualify as a seller (jumped thru all the right PayPal hoops) your customers now have the option to buy a warranty of sorts from PayPal when they pay you. If they are not pleased with the item in question, they return it to PAYPAL and PAYPAL gives them a refund.

That's how I understand it, too. I was offered the option to buy the protection a couple of times and was agast at how expensive it was relative to the cost of the merchandise. What's the point? Just use your credit card.

Gee - I THOUGHT i jumped through all the PP hoops but it wasn't offered to me ( 1000+ transactions)....maybe I should be glad. Perhaps my items aren't $$ to warrant the guarantee??

Neglus - I have nowhere near your number of transactions so I no idea why it's not on yours ALTHOUGH - I don't think you see it anyway, just your buyers.
