I have a couple thousand common baseball cards from the late 80's. They really don't have much value (guide is something like a nickel). I've tried to sell lots of 100 for a buck with no luck.

I know you can claim values for donated items for tax purposes. Could I take these cards and figure on a nickel a card on the tax write-off part if I gave them to Goodwill?

I think that is up to the Goodwill you donate them to. Find out how much you can deduct for your federal taxes. I think it is up to $500.00 but I might be wrong...

Our good will doesn't even care they just hand you a blank piece of paper and you fill it out...but there is a limit.

I always claim the same amount that Goodwill sells them for.

The limit is $1,000 value, I think, and over that you have to have a receipt showing original cost.

But you can break up the batches--donate a thousand or so at a time, wait a bit, then donate more. OR split them among several charities.

I think a nickel apiece is fair, because , while there may be some that aren't worth a penny, there may be some that are more valuable in the bunch.

Unless my math is wrong, even donating a thousand at 5 cents each, the value is $50.
