This was posted on another board and is an interesting item. On some auction sites like Yahoo Auctions there is a function that let's a seller see how many times the auction item has been added to a watchlist. Ebay does not have this function but a clever programmer has developed a bit of javascript that does this.

That sounds great. Do you think Ebay will have any problems with the embedded javascript?

The FAQ says the added script to auctions has no effect on the auctions and ebay has sent the guy any threatening letters yet.

I personally do not pay any attention to the Total Times added to a Watchlist: statistics on my Yahoo Auctions. Most of the time I'm sure they watchlists numbers are merely other sellers seeing how your item fared so they can deem it worthy of listing their own similar item.
