I just registered for this service a week or so ago and I have no clue how I lived so long without it, I LOVE IT.
My question is can you print labels for Canadian mailing or will I have to go to the Post Office lines for all of my Canada/International stuff? I know I have to fill out those green forms, etc. but as far as printing, labeling, etc.
Thanks

Well you won't love $tamps.com for long if you do any volume of shipping. After the free intro period they start charging a percentage of your total postage purchase.
When I used them I was never able to print postage to Canada.
Then I switched to Endicia.com, flat rate monthly fee & can print postage world wide.
Endicia is the best way to print your postage, all others need to learn from them.

Yep and don't forget the price of the labels, too.
Paypal was great too, when it was free.
Now if you sell something for 5.00, collect using paypal and then mail with stamps.com, you may as well donate the item to charity by the time you get done paying everyone's fees.

Hmm I must have missed somewhere this fee they charge after the intro period.
What is Endicia? How much is it? I have only been at Stamps.com for a little over a week now, should I cancel it and move to the other program?
Advice?

Okay I'm checking it out....
Can I print shipping stuff on regular paper or do I have to buy labels? I print my stamps.com ones on regular 8x10 paper and tape them to the pacakges.
If there are no hidden fees on this one and I can print on regular paper I'm switching. THat's stupid not to!

Stamps.com allows plain-paper printing now? That's great. At first they required those special Avery labels with orange fluorescent borders.

You can print on pretty much anything you want to that will go through a printer with endicia.
Fedex gave me a thermal printer and free labels so I use it for USPS too.

I registered with Endicia now and they've not send me my email. I can't log in to their system without an account number. They said it was approved and I should have my system email in about 5 minutes...and that was 20 minutes ago. They have my credit card information, etc. Now what do I do?

Not if I have to pay extra to use it, no! I didn't know there was an additional charge and I'm not giving away what little money I do make to another company. Bah on that!

Agree Helga. Listing fees, BIN fees, the new reserve price fee gouging, er I meant percentage, FVF fees, paypal 30c + 2.9% fees, 30 minutes' time spent packing an item that's not even worth the price of the container it's shipping in . . . and now postage fees >

Well I am ticked.
I did not get my initial email from them and I had to request a second email to get my account number. This email did NOT contain my pass phrase which I have tried numeous times to enter in my configuration (because yes, I remember what it was) and it WILL NOT ACCEPT IT. I have tried every sort of way, capitals, no capitals, no question marks, question marks and now it tells me to contact support because too many times I have tried to put my pass in. Im FURIOUS. There is on one there on the weekends, I live on the East Coast whihc means I have to wait until 11 tomorrow morning to be able to contact someone!!!!!!!!!
How can I resolve this tonight? I uninstalled stamps.com and I have postage to take care of!

Now it is telling me my account is SUSPENDED????
WTF?
I have not even been able to USE it yet!
I haven't even had this on my system now for an hour and I'm already 100% displeased. What a poor system and no customer service available to help me.

Just out of curiosity - which web based companies are theree that you usually deal with that have such impecable customer service at 7:30pm on Sunday evening that you are so disgusted so early in the game?
The account is probably listed as susupended because you have made so mahy unsuccessful attempts to log in - its a protective device, it is not a feature designed soley to piss you off some more.

I am disgusted because it should not be so difficult to log in. I'm disgusted because I did not get the initial email like I was supposed to. I am disgusted because it took me less than 10 minutes to run stamps.com without this frustration.
I'm sorry but I think services like this SHOULD have technical assistance available for situations like this at all time. If you are going to charge people for a service shouldn't you be available when they need you?

Ok, if I have read correctly, Stamps.com has 2 plans, Simple and Power. Simple charges a 10% service fee with a minimum of $4.49 with no hidden postage. The power plan has hidden postage for a flat $15.99 a month.
Or is there fine print that I have missed.

It doesn't cost twice as much it costs the exact same - $15. a month. I have no problem with that. It's the fact that the registration is so complicated I'm now SOL until I can get the time to call the West Coast tomorrow while I'm supposed to be at my own job.

I've used ENDICIA for the past 2.5 years, &, for the past 2.5 years, I've raved about it!
HOWEVER, Endicia is run by PROFESSIONAL mailing experts at ENVELOPE MANAGER & their software is designed to be very POWERFUL & to work with just about any printer in existance!
Many times on these boards I've said that the INITIAL SETUP with ENDICIA is very complicated & NOT for the faint-hearted -- that's why their WONDERFUL LIVE CS is soooooo WONDERFUL!!!
OF COURSE...NOT ON A SUNDAY!!!
If you call tomorrow, or email:
[email protected]
they will walk you thru the setup!

It's just going to be hard for me to take care of this customer support thing because I have to work away from home. I can't just grab the phone and work and take care of it.
I hope this system is well worth the aggravation I've felt tonight over trying to use it.

Actually, ENDICIA's DAZZLE SW is a very complicated but powerful program designed by mailing professionals FOR business professionals.
Set-up IS complicated. Once set-up, the program is (for me, & I'm a ninny) very EASY and flexible to use!
Around 1 year ago I purchased the DYMO LABEL WRITER 330 from OfficeDepot & this has reduced my printing errors to 0%
I LOVE DAZZLE & ENDICIA'S CS & this is my #1 favorite internet company...by far!
If you are impatient by nature, ENDICIA may not be right for you. However, SIMPLE is not always better.
Many folks like STOMPS.COM -- I used them for 6 mos & dumped them as their CS was non-existant & their SW (as far as I was concerned) was very lame! NTM the fact that their pricing was OUTRAGEOUS!

Been using Stamps.com since they started, never had one minutes trouble since the begining.
Seems the price is minute compared to the trouble ( HelgaGPataki ) is having just to sign up!
By the way I only use it for letter postage.
For packages I use the USPS site,it's free & none of these services can beat that!

I see you never used Endicia. You are using stamps.com just for letters? what a waste of money.
I would never go back to the usps site for labels.
I never had any trouble with endicia either. I have emailed them with questions about future features though and they reply real quick.

Well...
YES, Endicia CAN beat THAT, as the STEALTH-MODE has been a real blessing for me little peace-of-mind!
The USPS employs JAVA that is testy for many folks' PCs!
NTM: the accounting features + the live CS at Endicia makes me feel that me moola is very well spent!

The other thing I forgot to mention is that using the USPS site, they have a seperate charge for every label. Paypal debit cards have a limit of 30 transaction per day which would not work for me.

It costs me $4.49 a month would spend more than that for gas to run and buy stamps!
Stamps.com has the stelth mode also.
I don't mark postage up so high that I need to hide it from my customers.

I really like the out come of this thread.
It was started because she loved Stamps, and even though she never used it she now hates it!
And she's crazy in love with this great new site she has paid for but can't use!
Gotta Love It!

There is a 1 month free trial. So she didn't pay anything yet.
You say that you use the USPS website to print labels even though you pay stamps.com every month. That right there shows it is inferior.
The part I like the best about Endicia is the clipboard monitor. There couldn't be an easier thing to use.
I never tried stamps.com because it costs more, has less features and it couldn't possibly be anything better about it than Endicia. (at least for what I use it for)

"I don't mark postage up so high that I need to hide it from my customers."
ME NEITHER...
...but I sure ain't stupid enough to GIVE AWAY SHIPPING for FREE! I state ion every auction the EXACT SHIPPING FEE the winner will pay -- the individual components of that SHIPPING FEE is nobody's business but mine. Thee holier-than-thou types may be able to GIVE AWAY $0.50 boxes + labels + tape + peanuts + bubble wrap, but most PROFESSIONAL BUSINESSES do not!
