I just saw on the eBay Announcement page that they are going to start offering Sellers the ”opportunity,” to bid/buy banner ads for key words! I see it as just another way to get more money from the seller.
To me it sounds like just more junk on the search page, what do you think? PERSONALLY, I NEVER click on banner ads, so my opinion of such is extremely low. What do YOU think?
Personally, I can see a lot of ridiculous confusion if only one “key word” is allowed – for instance we handle dinner plate chargers (silver under plates) and normally “chargers” would be the “key word.” BUT, if one can only use 1 key word, our plate chargers would pop up for any guy searching for football memorabilia for the “CHARGERS!” Certainly, not a profitable investment for the seller – of course the opposite to the word “chargers,” is also true.
Opinions?

Geez, do you think they made this "bidding for keywords" complex enough?
eBay banner ads are a sucker bet.
I noticed they won't let us pay for them with "Anything Points"... (*snork*)

"I see it as just another way to get more money from the seller."
So where else would they get money from?
This is expected, once the company went public. Every quarter their revenue must increase, otherwise the stockholders will get restless. And Meg's stock bonus will be worth less.
This is why private, un-greedy companies give you more service at less cost.
