This is how I feel about that. I'm a newbie so I'm still in the learning phase.

I prefer Half.com or Ioffer, because it's a fixed price. If the seller wants me to renegotiate the price, they can email me and arrange for it.
The only way that auctions would be worth anyone's time -- esp w/ the fees they charge -- would be if it's a high ticket item. As for Ebay store -- which is fixed price -- it's high compared to ioffer, yahoo, and vendio. $4.95 a month is reasonable to me. The only thing that Ebay has over everyone else is the name and the reputation. I believe that if these others sites got their marketing together they would be just as successful.

I just worked a college fair and made $11 in 4 hours, that's about $3 an hour. Now granted the audience was "college" students who don't have money.

But I feel 1) it gets me out and meet people and I can 2) determine what it is people want and are willing to buy.

Now, I also get a wholesaler's list, which I'm sure everybody does, but they want you to buy in quantity $1000 or more. NOw if I buy that $1000 product and put it on Ebay, what's to guarantee that it's going to sell? It's just like that college fair.

So the product is very important and being able to do business overseas is important too. Because 69million Ebayers are not just in the U.S. they're overseas too.

It just seems that EVERYBODY is getting in the EBAY game, some people are profiting, but Ebay is most definitely profiting.

I have a hard time believing this story. A really good table is about $4000.00. This means he has to sell 200 a month to gross $800,00.00. This looks like an annual sale amount.

I buy from $3500 to $8000 per month from my jewelry source, and all of it sells. Well-priced jewelry always sells on eBay.

A good day for me at the flea market (way back when) was $350. Gross, not net. I think one day I actually took in about $800, but usually it was between $50 and $200. Not very promising. I learned that displays draw people in, and good buys get them to spend.

I am not hotcupoftea on Vendio.

The only way I can make sense of the pool table seller is that he is able to undercut local billiard table sellers due to lower overhead and what must be a huge markup on these tables.

But I also see things that do not make sense. Why would a wholeseller allow this guy to undercut all his other customers ?

Also, if this guy is selling 500/600 tables a month, why only 1564 total feedback after nearly 2 years ? That's 6000 tables sold a year and less than 25% feedback response.

Sounds like some reporter needs to investigate this one a little further.

Below is the shipping terms.

ZBilliards ships anywhere in the U.S., direct to your home. ***FREE SHIPPING ANY WHERE IN THE CONTINENETAL U.S.-Crate charges still apply***. Product can take up to six weeks to ship after auction closes as pockets and felt are customized by winning bidder. Want it faster? ZBilliards offers "QUICK SHIP" upon request. Additional express shipping charges apply. Felt is shipped separately via UPS. $99 crate charge applies to all shipments. All locations must be accessible to 18 wheelers - if not, the freight company may impose additional delivery charges. The freight company will not uncrate, remove debris, set up table or take up/down stairs. The freight company can not enter your home.

That is a pretty simple one. It is against the law for the wholesaler to tell this guy that he cannot sell it for less than a certain amount or for any amount for that matter. He can have a suggested list price for items, but the retailer, seller, what ever name you wish to use, They can sell it for what ever price they so desire. That is why you always here prices stated as suggested retail price. That is because the law states that a wholesaler cannot fix prices or force a retailer to sell an item for the exact same price. Not to say that you can't sell it for suggested retail, you would be welcome to do that, but you do not have to. If this guy is under cutting his/her competitors and makes money at it, more power to him.

I think this guy has it down. He's buying from the manufacturer and gives a number of options for shipping, set-up, etc.

Feedback looks pretty good, too. Wish I had $1000 items shipping as regularly as he does.
