Auctionace suggested I put a box around items I need to ADD to my description (at the very end of the description, where no one can see) so I'm trying it out here first:

<CENTER><TABLE BORDER=2 WIDTH=100%CELLSPACING=5 CELLPADDING=8BGCOLOR=CYAN><TR><TD><FONT SIZE=+2><BR><BR>Item was made in Italy<B>

I see that ebay has now disabled the use of colors in the addition to description box.
http://cgi5.ebay.com/aw-cgi/ebayisapi.dll?PreviewAddToItem

At least you can still jack up the font size. Before I figured out the color background and it was allowed I use to use a bunch of asterisks in rows above and below the added lines such as

****************************
****************************

The book was Made In Italy

*******************************
*******************************

It makes the addition stand out a little.

I found the best way to do it is to put it right on top of the picture too. (just use your image program to add text then delete the picture and re-upload it. That way no one will miss it. If you don't want it covering up any of the picture then just make it taller and put it above in the jpeg.

These are for adding to your auction description after a bid has been made but before the 12 hours remaining deadline. If you just add the info to the little box and submit no one will hardly notice the added info but if you use HTML and jack up the font or change the font then it has a good chance of getting seen. The color code made it really stick out that they probably did away with that now. I know there are going to be numerous changes to what the seller can do with the new page format.

Don't forget to put quotation marks around cyan and the font size.
And make sure you have spaces.
Tables can blow up in some peoples browsers...not pretty!
Thanks for the tutorial info!
Niftage!

Hey, guys! Thanks so much. I like the link you gave me, Toasted. I learned some new things and actually added to my description on one auction using the "<hr>" horizontal rule, several of them before and after. Next time, though, I'll use the asterisks. I think they make the information stand out more.

I do detest how far down Ebay pushes the added information, though.

Here's something else. My computer whiz son who is in computers in Silicon Valley (CA of course) sent me a link to this color chart. Fascinating.

Hi Roadsmith,
<hr> horizontal rule is pretty neat. You can colour it and specify it's size. eg.

<hr width="75%" color="red">

You can also make it thick or thin, but I forget how to do that. Doh!
Cheers,
Adrian
