when did you update your credit card on file and why are you updating it??
if ebay finds out that the credit card has been shared/used by another account which is suspended, ebay will suspend your current account as well.

stopwhining, my credit card was updated last week and I do not shar my account with anyone, the reason it was updated was eBay sent me a notice that it was experining this month. So I put the expperation date and up dated it.

It's possible you were taken in by one of the scams. Did you get an official looking email from "eBay" asking you to update your credit card information?

Yeah - it's just a quote that I love and find appropriate these days. Funny thing is that as a driver, I couldn't stand Andretti, always struck me as a spoiled brat.

Sorry for the confuion, I frequently forget to put that last return in my posts to seperate the post from the quote.

Try reentering the info. Maybe you made a typo.... maybe not but it certainly can't help

How did I complete miss this statement?

Fleec - it looks as though ebay has somehow linked your account to a different suspended account. You should have recieved a notice from ebay saying that they have suspended your account, if not I would try to contact them directly to get a better understanding of the problem and get it cleared up.

Did you click on the link in the e-mail to update your credit card? If so, the e-mail was probably not from ebay after all and someone else has hi-jacked your account.

Check to see if there are any auctions running under your present user ID. There are lots of these spoof e-mails going around now and they look almost exactly like an ebay one. There are also some that say you get a chance to win a car from ebay. Don't click on anything in the e-mail.

Go to this page and read about account theft. This may have happened to you.

kiara, thanks I just called eBay and the lady said she had never heard of anything like this, I have nothing posted and am sure this was a legal ebay request for a credit card update, the only thing I can think of is I may have pushed a wrong button when I updated the form and now they think I am two different people??

Not the case here but ...
I was wondering if the legitimate emails from ebay warning users that their credit cards are soon to expire would suffer from the millions of scam letters. They must have many accounts get suspended because ebay sellers deleted the letters thinking they were bogus. I bet ebay had to hire a whole slew of customer reps just to sort out all the suspended accounts.

if your credit card is found linked to a suspended account, you will get email from ebay telling you your current account has been suspended in a day or two.
this 212 error message is an ebay message .
think !! do you ever have another account which used this credit card ??

gas-

Do you still have the email with the request from Ebay for the update?

Every now and then, I receive an email that comes from "Ebay Billing" or "Ebay Support" that asks me to update my credit card information.

You then get a link that will take you to "Ebay" to update your information. The problem is that it may look like Ebay (with all the cheesy colors/logos/etc.), but it isn't Ebay. Kind of how a lot of meats "taste like chicken".

If you still have that email, I suggest forwarding it to Ebay's fraud department immediately. They will know if it was a fraud email. You can also tell if it is a fake because when you click the link from the email and watch the address box, you will notice it changes to some strange URL address not associated with Ebay. I fell for this one time, and caught it just before I started updating my info. The site also asks you to enter your password. Another Bad Idea. With the password they have access to your Ebay account. Change your password immediately!

Watch yourself at all times!!!! If you ever receive a notice from Ebay that asks you to follow a link, DON'T!!! Go to www.ebay.com and enter your information manually through their site. That is the only way to be assured you are not being duped in a major headache and financial strain.

rustygumbo I will have to look in the delete file and see if I still have it, I doubt it but I am sure it was a ebay request as the old card expired today.

Another problem is that ebay does sometimes send the letter about the credit card info and they put a link in the letter. That should be a no-no but they do it sometimes.

gasolineguys--------

The same thing kept happening to me last week. I updated my credit card which had not expired and couldn't figure it out. Finally I changed the color of item and it went through. On the new box of information that you fill out like style, color, size etc. I had chosen "other" under color and typed in a five word description of the color.....way too long. I changed it to one word and it went through like a charm. It is not on some categories but is being added slowly. It was just added to the clothing category called the "Item Specifics:Main Category". Hope I explained this OK. I just returned from a long trip and I'm very brain impaired(more than ususal)at the moment.

When you are writing up a new auction it is in the box right after the templates and counter in the same box with the category choice. You choose the style, size, main color and new with tags, or whatever your category requires. Not all categories have this yet but the one you list in may. If you chose "other" for the color another box appears where you type the color. I really don't know how to explain it better but maybe someone else can. It is not in the description but in "Item Specifics". On style and main color you have a pop up menu but if you don't click on the one of the choices they give you another box comes up to type in your style or main color. If you type too much in the box it won't launch. In your category that you sell do you have the "Item Specifics"?
