I'm on vacation next week and the plan is to organize my ebay rooms. Yes, rooms. I started out well organized, but now it's a total mess especially since I'm selling for others now, too. How do you guys stay organized? Any suggestions would help a lot! I feel like I'm drowning in a sea of stuff!

Wrong person to ask here

I have one room filled with one type item, another closet filled with postcards and items waiting to be shipped stacked in boxes in every corner of my house so I can find them easily

I use rubber totes. They are fairly cheap, they come in a variety of colors, they are stackable plus you can reuse them for other things. If your stuff is small enough you should try them. Almost all of my inventory is in totes.

I use rubbermaid containers to help keep organized but if you are on a budgt you might want to try the cardboard file boxes that you can buy in packs of 5 or 10 at any office supply store. The nice thing about these is that when the boxes are empyt, you can collapse them and shove them under a bed or behind the bookcase. Since I have multple selling IDs I keep thngs seperated first by what the proper selling ID is and then by value. Higher end items in one group, middle priced, and low end and then there is the "Try again on FLD" box of things that just don't seem to want to sell. Every couple months I go thru that those boxes for when I am bored and see if there is anything whose time may have come.

I also keep those item listings in my inventory so that if ebay springs a surprise FLD on me it's just a matter of matching items to listings, click and be done.

If you are using the cardboard boxes get a pack of full page sized lamination sheets. Laminate a sheet of paper (you can even try using different colors of paper to help your organization system) then tape it to the side of the box. You can now use a dry erase marker to write what is in the box. Once you sell the item, just erase it from the list. This way you can see at a glance what is in each box.

Since you sell alot of jewelry you might want to try the local 99 cent store for some smaller plastic organizers.

Hopefully something there is of use to you. Have fun cleaning! If you are anything like me, you'll find some great things you forgot you even had.

Great suggestions! I will be off to the dollar store tomorrow. I think I may have my significant other make shelves for me, too. My office is small (it used to be a nursery) so it would be nice to have labeled containers up off the floor. An example of the clutter is that I hit my desk which sent a CD I had balanced on my printer flying to the desktop. That in turn knocked into my magnifier (it's on a stand) which knocked over a glass of Pepsi all over the place. Talk about a domino effect. My pants, socks, chair and desk were soaked. Thankfully, I didn't have anything on my desk that the Pepsi would hurt. LOL!

Let me help. If you have shelves the best kind of item to store things in are the plastic drawers. They need to be square so that they can sit side by side abutted together so you can probably get 3 across then all you have to do is open a drawer. Be sure to label everything. The shoe boxes are nice but they are not straight so it is difficult to put them side by side. If you have small stuff like your jewelry I would suggest going to a thrift store and buying yourself a chest of drawers. This way you can see what you have at all times. The plastic bins are nice except if you stack them of course what you want will be in the bottom one. I wish you a lot of luck and please come back and tell us how you made out.

noh2. Some of us sell one of a kind items. Some rare some not so rare. What I have heard about supplier's I would rather have me as a supplier than most.

Hello everyone,

Well, first off, I survived the week on Amtrak to pick up grand-kids. Now all I have to do is survive the next five weeks!

Part of the planning for the summer visit was to clear out the ebay room so I could see the bed so someone could sleep in it! LOL!!

My solution was coke trays labeled on the end with masking tape as to what was inside. The tape can be taken off and replaced. I have four shelving units from Bed, Bath & Beyond. The coke trays will hold most of the smalls and can be stacked at least three high and three across on the shelves.

Three categories:

Pics Done & Uploaded to Vendio - Listings Not Typed

Old Pics Done - Need To Upload & Type

Nothing Done - Need Pics, Upload and Type Listings

I had 50 listings set to launch while I was in (Oh please... awful place) Pensacola, Florida. These items are on a small roll-around cart (three shelves) so if I have to answer a question the item is handy.

Pleasantly surprised to (finally) get home and see some bids.

Hope this helps.

Lucy

Well, I have at least a place to start. My step-grandmother gave me a large 4-drawer filling cabinet (holds legal size documents). Since I'm selling for three other people right now, I'm going to label a file drawer for each of them. That will get that stuff up off the floor. Our house is strange in that the whole back of it once was an in-law suite. I have what used to be the nursery as my office and that connects to another room that's very large. That's the room I dread going in to. Once I remove 5 year's worth of accumulated stuff, I'll be left with a clean slate. I didn't put my office back there because it's unheated. You don't want to spend too much time in an unheated room in Cleveland in the winter. .

I like the plastic container ideas. I found one last night that has three drawer. Perfect for the jewelry I sell! The drawers are transparent so even if I don't label them I can see what's inside. They also stack.

I am hoping to have this project done by fall (LOL) and if I'm successful, I'll post some pics. The garbage men are going to hate me. I think I may finally have to sell off some of the clothes that have been hanging around here for the last upteen years gathering dust. I don't think I'll be wearing them afterall.
