I recently found a necklace depicting an animal I collect that has Trifari stamped on the back. I remember reading that name mentioned a couple times here and was just wondering what the story on the company is.
Jewelry isn't really my thing but I really like this piece and after reading all of the costume jewelry thread on here I guess you guys are sucking me in... at least on a curiosity factor.
I don't really have a specific question but would love to know a little background if anyone wants to share their Trifari trivia knowledge.

Kiara - Thanks! After reading that and looking at other pieces - this piece looks very different from what they seem to be known for.
Does this look like something they would have made?
I included the clasps since I though maybe Fluffy could use her internal clasp encyclopedia o' knowledge.

Trifari is like most of the famous costume jewelery makers and has changed several times with the economic times. Gaudy jewlery is not out of line for Trifari.

PLLLLEWWWWWTTT Acey dear. ;0 You haven't figured out by now that I have a gaudy trace in me?
I'm actually just a sucker for phoenix images - this isn't quite there but I like stronger cleaner designs as opposed to some of of the more traditional vintage stuff. ( I also tend more towards the western depictions of the phoenix - the Japanese one reminds me of a peacock)

That piece isn't gaudy. It's clean and modern and I like it. Sorry I can't help you as I don't know anything about it.

On the contrary Kiara - the link helped me a lot - (confused a bit too but hey - I'm easily confusable at times ) I'm thinking that this is from the period that they were under Hallmark ownership since this seems to be more in line with styles from that time period. I think what confused me was that most of the Trifari stuff I found on ebay are older designs that predated the popularity of these types of pieces.
