It's a hoax - I heard from other people that it's going around. If you're really concerned you can go directly to ebay (not through the email link) and update your phone number if it's incorrect.

Or forward it to [email protected] and they will confirm for you whether it's a hoax or not.

This one is a hoax. I received a previous iteration, and the bogus website that it pointed to has been removed.

Does ebay make typo errors such as this? I should think they would have a spell check in use. One would think the idiot who sent it would too.

Ever since I commented on this board that I felt "left out" because I never received an eBay hoax letter I have received them at the rate of about 1/day - one day last week I got 6 right in a row!! I dutifully send them all to spoof eBay and move on. In fact, I am sending just about everything i get that says it is from eBay (other than auction notifications) to spoof eBay - better safe than sorry.

Neglus don't forget to use that opportunity to voice anything that e bay needs to fix. Like not letting NPB's leave any feed back. Make it worth the clicks!

buyhigh,,,, Oh yes e bay DOES make spelling errors. Just ask anyone who has been newly asked to join the Powerseller program in an e mail.

If you read it "closely" they in fact have two errors. I sent it to spoofs and they Verified their OWN welcome letter is a spoof! Hahahaha!!!!!!

Great way to cover up their own mistakes!

Now that was over a week ago they MAY have corrected the errors, I doubt it. The two mispellings are: WORKHARD and Entueprenuer,,,,,,hahaha, I,,,,,,am not even sure if I spelt that right. BUT they for positive have it misspelled.

I was forwarding my copy to a friend ( I was SOOOO happy!!! I had to tell him) and spell check caught the errors. I had not clicked ANYTHING on that e mail and immediatly sent it to spoofs. Their reply as stated above. It's a spoof!

IT is NOT a spoof it IS their welcome e mail!!!! My friend checked the spelling from a six month old welcome e mail and he said the e mail was also misspelled.

Go figure....

The best way to tell if the suspension letter is valid and you are indeed suspended is to attempt to bid. Feel free to bid a hunderd bucks each on about 5 or 6 of my auctions. As soon as I receive the money, I'll verify everything went through o.k. and you'll KNOW for sure it was a spoof

those bad guys are getting good! that one had no spelling errors and sounded official mcjane - did it also include the ebay sign-on page? The ones I have been receiving duplicate the sign-in exactly(no link - the sign-in is right in the email) - but of course you are just handing them your password if you DO sign-in there!!

Please remember that eBay will NEVER send you a link in their emails and ask you to "click on the link" to log in. If you ever get an email like that, then you can be sure that it's not from them.

If anything, they may tell you to log in to your account, but they would not provide the link for you. They would ask you to log in to their home page like you normally would.

Good luck!

Came back from vacation to find a hoax in my mailbox. Nice try, but I didn't fall for it. Said my contact information is incorrect and that I was suspended from bidding and need to update my information. Ya right.
