I have potential bidder from Taiwan who would like to buy several orders. They would like to pay with a money order. Are money orders safe? I am a little leary since I have been ripped off before. This bidder has no bid history. Advice anyone?

I would recommend an international money order in United States currency drawn on an institution based in the US or Bidpay.com. Those are the safest

As long as it is an international MO payable in US funds you are good to go. Another viable option that some of my international customers have used are Travelers checks.

popnrock-I think you and I have the same bidder. My auctions went off yesterday and as of yet I haven't heard from them. They only won 1 of mine but bid on several. I will wait and see what their response is before I decide what to take. Is PayPal safe from there? How do you plan on mailing your items?

Libra63 - they have not placed any bids or BIN. I called my bank and told me they a money order US funds/US Bank would be safe.

When I was selling for someone else we received huge orders from Indonesia. I didn't feel right about the sale but the owners wanted me to accept it. We thought we did everything right to protect ourselves from fraud. Wrong, the cards were stolen and the company lost thousands of dollars.

The story does have a happy ending..... Months later the post office returned several boxes of merchandise. So we were able to recover most of loss.

BidPay rocks!

For that matter, I've also bee VERY satisfied with PayingFast.com -- same idea as BP, plus, they seem a little more hysterical re security

BidPay seems very popular with the overseas bidders and they prefer it to Paypal. Great service for both sellers and international bidders and even domestic bidders if driving a long way to get a money order is a problem.

Who is cheaper: Bidpay or Payingfast?

paying fast may be a little cheaper, but the atttraction of paying fast is that the max amount is higher and it does not have to be auction payment.

Bidpay recently lowered their fees. $2.95 for a low value money order isn't bad.

Not if you want to pay for it with a credit card.

The buyer pays the fees for both bidpay and paying fast so I would let them choose which one they want to use. There services are very similar. I don't know if one is better than the other since I never had a problem with either.

The convenience is a big plus. No standing in line to buy it, no stamp to buy to mail it, etc. Many people still live in rural areas so it's a very good deal for them.
