Revised!
I found a lot of material about buying on Ebay.
I'm in the process of getting an outline together about buyers on Ebay.
Would anyone like to contribute their experiences or tips? Thanks all.

No, I haven't bought on Ebay. I have a watch list for a particular product.

Have you ever purchased anything on ebay? Just a short while ago you were totally clueless about selling and about ebay.

Not being rude, but sometimes I just sit here shaking my head.

Take anything that will teach them how to communicate and pay in a timely fashion. Oh heck, just take anything that will teach them to just pay.

Wish I could help you, but I've no clue where you can get this stuff. This doesn't have to be approved by Ebay? Or, is it already?

Buy an Ebay For Dummies book at your local store.

I've been asked to teach a "buyers" seminar for Ebay this Friday.

By who? You need to get a lot more experience before you should even think about something like this. Too many buyers are totally clueless now and to have the blind leading the blind makes no sense.

Need materials,need outline,need advice
Research, research and more research is my advice. Anything more and I have to ask how much will this pay me for my time and knowledge.

Gotta pull it together before Thursday.

Best of luck.

If you haven't already taken a look as to what eBay has to offer for learning tools, they have guided tours of "How to Buy on eBay" and other helpful information. Here's the link:

http://pages.ebay.com/education/buyingtips/index.html

Do you have access to a computer while giving this class? It would be nice if you could just set up the tour for them to watch and then go from there with questions, etc. Of course, if this class is large it probably wouldn't work unless you have some sort of projector. You could rent a projector that works with your computer and I'm sure that would be most helpful.

Good Luck!

P.S. Wouldn't it be nice if when you asked a question, people would just give helpful answers rather than criticise or bash your question? My parents always taught me...if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all.

She revised her first request.

This is someone that wants to teach a seminar on buying on ebay. She admits she has never bought a single item on ebay.

So I gave my opinion.

Like trai said, the blind leading the blind.

This message board is for people to ask questions and for others to give opinions, not warm and fuzzies. But then again, that is just my opinion.

This is like me going to a medical conference and holding a seminar on how to do brain surgery.

I don't know how anyone can teach a seminar on buying on Ebay without being experienced at it. Experience is the best teacher. Something my mother taught me.

Still, best of luck.

But then again if she approaches this with honesty and tells her students that she has never bought on ebay either and that she is clueless so will learn from the tutorial along with them, that is another matter.

This is where there shouldn't be edits allowed on some posts.... I always liked the edit feature but now I am starting to think like AuctionAce. Especially first posts.

This one wanted us to do the work so she would know what to tell them in the seminar.

I really hate myself when I begin to feel uncharitable or mean-spirited or short-of-patience, but, I'm sorry lady, ye appear to be slightly clueless when it comes to the wunderfuuul world of online auctions!

Do what most of US did back in the beginning of oue selling carreers: READ + LISTEN + RESEARCH + LURK HERE 4 a FEW MOS, absorbing our (& Ralphies) pearls of wisdom...

Before you know it, you'll be...Fluffy!

Yikes! I take it back! Find a safer hobby like DWARF BOWLING or IRISH HURLING!!

If they can edit when we see posts like this and we respond I guess its best we copy and paste their posts first.

cta, nobody minds helping someone but there is a fine line between helping someone and doing all the work for them.

If all you want is warm and fuzzy try Otwa where they have a group hug and prayer meeting every two minutes. (hurl)

If they have a group hug and prayer meeting every two minutes it's because Crystal suspended some of the rowdy posters and they are toeing the line over there.

It's odd but when the moderators or pinks left here ( hooray! ) the posters here got much more civil. The game of beating the moderators was over and no more fun.

Far from it. They have always been like that. Since I saw that board years ago they all group hug every time someone stubs their toe or their car doesn't start and then they have a prayer meeting. It's totally insane.

Buying and Selling is NOT brain surgery.
and She only asked for references.

My point was that I know as much about brain surgery as this person does about buying on ebay.

Yeah, but you know what Kiara? And I'm not saying you, but some of these people with so much so-called experience are like an old warped record. Skipping and a' tsking to the same ole' tune.

I think its kinda neat to get a fresh look at it.

Love that picture, by the way....lol!!!

ADD:

I am starting to feel like one myself already. (Gonna take a break from ebay, computer et.al. If its no fun anymore, I struggle to even do it. Not a natural born seller here.)

Other thing I wanted to say is I can appreciate having your brain being picked by newbies tiresome as well.

I bet she is a public speaker from a consulting firm or something. ::Shrug:: Most writers or reporters do not have personal experience on what they are assigned to do (but she should know how to construct her own f'n outline!!)so TomWillie's was the best advice: research, research, research.

If you want group hugs and prayer sessions you have to visit the Bidville Auction boards. They make OTWA look like schoolboys.

This thread just screams Twelvepole needs to reply...

Salgal, using people you have never met as your SME's (Subject Matter Experts) is not only rude but makes you out to be quite the idiot.

Giving a seminar is hard work, no you don't have to know the subject matter... but you had better know your audience and have reliable SME's to question. Trying to pull this together in 2 days means those people will not be getting their money's worth and worse, if you do this for a living... make you look foolish and now unreliable in your training seminars.

Better to just cancel this one do as others have suggested...

Either that or look like the foolish trainer you no doubtedly will be on Thursday.
