I saw or heard here on the board ebay was going to start requiring immediate payment when you do a BIN but I didn't know they have already done it. I just did a BIN and the seller, a powerseller, required this and it had it in red letters next to the "purchase now" button. My BIN auctions don't have that. Is it just the PSer's or what? The BIN I did was in the book category which may have something to do with it.

Do you think it will hurt sells if you require immediate payment. I would love it but it would sure force people to sign up for PP if they aren't already. It would cut down on NPBers and that would be wonderful.

I think that is a good idea. Some use BIN and then wait-wait-wait and then if they feel like it they will answer your WBN. Buy Now, Pay Now

Just like Half.com and EVERY retail website. The future of common BIN items on ebay is the instant payment auctions. Look out Amazon.

Can you post a link to either this auction or one of the seller's other ones? I haven't seen this in action yet.

You have to scroll down to the bottom where you can bid or buy.

I love it!

Hope the seller doesn't mind me putting a url to his auction.

My glasses must be dirty I don't see it!
Must only show after using the BIN.

That looks like a standard BIN auction and not one of the new ones.

Thanks for posting the link. I was curious about actually seeing the new format.

This would be a good format for BIN and Auctions alike!

No more NPB's!

That was exactly what AuxPal ( now Bidville ) and PayPal supposed aggreed to do almost three years ago but Paypal supposedly backed out at the last minute ( according to Auxpal ).

I thought the 'immediate payment' thing was an *option* that the seller could choose. In other words, it's not automatic for every BIN auction listed, the seller has to choose it.

(And eventually ebay will charge for it <grin>

Let me tell you, after my 350 smacker BIN fiasco today, they can't do it soon enough. I am permanently out 6 bucks and some change thanks to some bozo, and the integrity of my auction has been affected.

I know this is going to sound stupid, but since it was mentioned before....what happens if the buyer doesn't want to use paypal? I would love it in my catagory too, but I don't want to lose sales.

barbarake,

It is an option. But you do have to meet the requirments. I believe you can only ship to the US becuase they will need a confirmed address to use the buy-it-now.

Ship to a buyer's confirmed PayPal shipping address (unless you change your PayPal profile so that you'll also ship to unconfirmed addresses)

MOST of my items are fixed price and I won't be participating in the immediate payment plan.

For those of you who offer combined shipping rates for multiple purchases it will be a nightmare of back and forth emails and requests to get their $2 back. If you are force to pay full shipping and on item #2 you are forced to pay full shipping AGAIN it will frustrate and piss off anyone who planned on buying 2 or more items from you.

Not to mention absorbing 30 cents EACH payment on each item in paypal fees.

What if you also take money orders and checks and or a merchant acount of your own and a potential customer does not have/want paypal??

Do you want to be a 1 item per person paypal only seller??

All of you who have storefronts connected to your auction management company and usually get ADD-ONS in your checkout...... you'll lose out big time.

Why would they go to your checkout if they already paid!

It's just another way to give Ebay MORE CONTROL of everything you do and sell.

A seller can refuse Paypal payments without any cost and send a payment request for the correct amount for multiple purchases.

A seller can place a statement in BOLD lettering in their auction descriptions that states something like " If you want to purchase multiple items let me know via email and I will give you a shipping price quote and refund any shipping overcharge via Paypal ". The clever sellers will find workarounds to the multiple purchases problems and those will be very succesful sellers that snag the immediate sales and payments.

YES!!! I hope this works out. I am tired of getting screwed by NPB. I have some concert tickets that I have been trying to sell. They are time sensitive, and I list that payment must be received within 24 hours of the auction close. In the last 2 days, I've had two newbies come on and use buy it now, only to get ignored by one, and the other claims to have problems with paypal because he used to have a different email address. the lies never seem to end. I would love to see BIN go to auto pay formats immediately. In fact, i would love to see ebay go to that for all auctions. I don't mind the fees (provided they don't get raised). I am sick of the NPB that screw me over and waste my time.

I just read the instructions for immediate payment, and found a small problem. I no longer accept Paypal for International payments because of PP's lack of seller protection. This will make it impossible for International bidders to use BIN if they are blocked from Paypal to begin with. I would say that 9 out of 10 payments are from the USA, but that would cut my 10 % International bidders out of the opportunity to Buy It Now. I guess I could work around it with them, by requiring them to email me if they want to Buy It Now, but can't. That just seems tedious.
