Looks a bit like a "bride's basket" to me. Search under that and see what pops up.

Roadsmith may be precisely right. I seem to remember some glass (crystal?) that my mother had resembling the design on this basket. She received them as wedding gifts. Is the bottom a starburst design?

Cheryl: Yes to the STARBURST!

Roadkill: THANKS! Yes, it looks like other Bride's baskets! Mine has a line all the way around -- looks like 2 halves pressed together. Is that Pressed Glass?

Obviously, Ralphie knows NOTHING about collectible glass & is being a real PITA today munching on me toes! STOP THAT you turkey!!

Yup, pressed or molded glass. I had a sort of matching small water pitcher that was my mother's (it's now my daughter's). Small world, eh?

I have had a lot of those baskets through the years. They sell but I could never get much for them. Good Luck.

yep,brides basket.

Tom, I have a question for you? Do you ever dress ralphie up in outfits??

I just got the cutest dog holiday clothes. (Each Holiday has an outfit.) The owner passed on and they were sold at an estate sale. Auctioner told me she had had a beagle she dressed up. OHH! They are so cute!! I dont even have a dog but I feel like I dont even want to sell them! Would be easier if somebody "I knew" not that I know you - but I feel like I've come to know ralphie.....lol....wanted them.

He actually needs SOMETHING in the winter. Although this is NE FL, it does get COLD sometimes & poor ole puppy-boy suffers during his morning "constitutionals!"

If you'd like, please drop us a line at Ralphie's email addy:

Bride's baskets are usually ruffled and sit in a metal holder. But yes, this is a basket.

We used to put violets in my mom's basket like that - you know the wild violets that bloom by the gazillions in the spring? I thought it was called a "violet basket"..

Hey Tomwii I have one of those items also. My mom called it a basket. I don't think it is a bride's basket though. She told me it was a good piece but that it was old. She must have gotten it in the 40's. I think she used it for real flowers like Lilly of the Valley or something on that order. Look real hard and see if the Heisey mark is there. Look closely around the handle. They made this type of basket back then.

It's trash. Throw it out. Just let us know where you toss it.

Libra...I was thinking Heisey also. Definitely not a promo or F.W. Woolworth stock item.

Tom...Look through the Imperial category also. They were known to spring a few surprises on occasion.

Most definitely not trash! I had one from my mother-in-law's estate. She was married in 1921 and I *think* it was a wedding gift.

I'm also thinking Heisey or another of the elegant glass companies. Design looks wheel-cut to me but could be etched.

Very pretty basket!
