I've seen many dolls at garage sales, but never know what may be worth anything. I decided to do a search on ebay and found this doll...#2941743313. I am totally baffled as to what this doll is and why she is bringing so much money...especially with such a vague description. The seller is also selling three other dolls with the same kind of description. Seller has 0 feedback, but still has high bids on all these dolls. Please..what is so special about these dolls???

Your guess is as good as mine. The photos are lousy and the description is even worse. Kind of suspicious in my eyes. Even my dolls from the 1950's and 1960's are not worth that much. But then, I know nothing about dolls.

Hmm. I just did a bit of checking and found that her dolls started at $8.00. Both her bidders registered today! If she is shilling,(and for the life of me, I can't understand why), she's going to have quite a fee to pay for all those auctions!

You don't think Ebay will see a red flag when it has to refund fees on $8000...four auctions...same high bidder??? What CAN she be thinking...

0 feedback across the board - strange, to say the least...

annekila - I checked the dates, and the outbid bidder registered on 02/05/03 - but still odd that these dolls are all he/she has bid on.

also, one of the dolls was listed previously with a starting bid of $50.00, and received no bids - that was a week or two ago, I believe. Yet the seller did sell two antique lanterns

ROFL @ tom!

now this is strange - if you click on the 0 feedback rating beside the outbid bidder, it says he/she registered today. If you go to "search by bidder" and copy/paste the bidder info there, it shows the bidder has never bid on anything and did, in fact, register on 02/05...

maybe we aren't in Kansas anymore
guess I'm off to try to find some closeouts on business cards or diplomas or something

Is this the reason that ebay will not refund the insertion fees on an NPB? A crooked seller shills bids up an item and hopes for a sucker to outbid them and make a lot of money? If they fail all fees are refunded.

My guess is that if anyone from Ebay is reading this thread, that seller will be NARU within 24 hours. I've seen a lot of shill bids before, but none as amateurish as this.

Looks like not-very-well-camouflaged shill bidding to me.

Well I wouldn't waste time bidding - we all know what the current high bidder's top bid is....x's 3! Perhaps the seller reads this board???NO WAY!!
