Thank you neroter12. I think so too! I'm having a hard time deciding what and what not to sell.

Everyone has a different defination of fruit salad. Cheryl has a very good description mine is something bright, with transparent stones and leaves. Now, I wouldn't consider this a fruit salad but then again someone else would. I just looked through the fruit salad jewelry that is on ebay and only a couple pieces I would say is fruit salad not all that is listed. It might be a Juliana brooch I don't know for sure. It's a nice demi. While checking the jewelry under fruit salad and I am disappointed with the bidding. Lots of nice jewelry with no bids. Everyone must be on vacation.

Fruit salad is jewelry with molded stones, glass, lucite or plastic & can be either transparent or translucent.

I went and looked at Juliana at ebay and I'd say these fall into that listing.I have about 15 that will fall into that category.Glad you said it lol cause we all know i'd of never known that .My mom was a huge fan of yard sales and I'm sure 99.9 % of her costume jewelry came from there. She would buy because it was big ,flashy and pretty ...not because it was Lucite,Bakelite or other materials.Things like occupied japan she would say something about cause she knew it was old but jewelry was never talked about so I have no clue.I'm very glad to have y'all to help me out !

I would list it as Juliana atyle. There are a couple of stones that could be considered fruit salad. I think you may get a better price as a Juliana style demi-parure.

Libra63 is right. There are a lot of nice pieces with no bids. I've noticed that things go in spurts. One minute Carmen Miranda style jewelry is hot, hot, hot and the next fruit salad. The next week it could be something different. I'd pay close attention to both styles of jewelry (fruit salad and Juliana style) and launch it when one or the other is hot. Even better would be to hold off until September. People are getting their kids ready to go back to school (can ya believe it?) so a lot of money will be spent on school clothes and supplies.

Looking through the vintage jewelry (especially lots) I couldn't help but notice that people bid high when the jewelry is pictured as one big lump of stuff. I have to wonder why? Personally, I can't be bothered to bid if the seller can't be bothered to display the pieces and take nice photographs. Who wants to pay a high price for a lump? Your photograph is nice. Now that I would bid on.

Good luck! It's stunning!

Just a question - I am a a plain gold hoop earring type person - are those earrings the clipon style from the 1950s - and do people actually WEAR them (ouch! aren't they heavy?) or just collect them?

I've tried wearing them and it lasts about an hour at the most. I end up with red sore ears! I don't know how women used to wear these things. Oh the suffering we women used to bear for the good of our husbands. I do have a couple of pairs that belonged to my grandmother. I took them to a jeweler and they converted them to post earrings. Normally, I wouldn't have done that but since they belong in the family, they will never be sold.

Thanks Cheryl I think I will wait till later when things pick up.I also think I need to spend a month or so in jewelry lol just to learn some of the names of styles.Man do i feel sorry for people who sell jewelry on e-bay for a living. It's way harder to get a good picture of shiny stuff ! Takes twice as long..... I must have had to take 10 pictures of this set just to get all the colors .Tried 2 different color back grounds .Applause to you that make it in that category I can see why fluffy don't take any chit from her buyers ! She too tired and pissed off from taking pictures !lol
