Okay, why would this guy say first buyers get pick of dates?

I never thought printer ink in a cartridge goes bad or dry??

Is it worth buying this then since its from maybe 2001 or 2002?

(sorry ace, forgot how to do the link already...y'all just have suffer me through this one. Get it right next time. promise!)

Just copy the url at the top of the auction page. Then on the board type [*url* ]paste address here[*/url*] but don't add the stars and with no spaces between the [ ].

I don't think the ink really goes bad but it might dry up. If the seal is broken or comes loose the ink inside could dry up. I would think they would be good longer than the exp. date though as long as it wasn't too terribly out-of-date. That is a good price for the cartridge. I used to wonder why the printers are so cheap now. You pay through the roof for the cartridges....they should give the printers away.

Maybe someone will post an answer better than mine. Maybe someone out there has had experience with old cartridges.

You done good again Paw.

The ink can dry in very old cartridges. It's a gamble to buy it but if the price is low the gamble is low too. ( I'm a gambler ) I use to have a HP InkJet printer that ate me alive with the price of the cartridges. We tried the refill kits but that was either a mess or clogged the jets after the second refill anyway. I went to the electronics store and there was a Canon rep there selling Canon cartidges. He said that HP made 60% of their profts on the replacement cartridges that cost $20-$30 a pop. The Canon cartridges were only $10 each and third market sellers had them as low as $2 a cartridge. I bought a low end Canon printer and never spent more than $10 a year on cartridges ever again.

Hi neroter12
I have one of those hungry HP printers too and have purchased the expired ink cartridges many times without a problem. I checked the sellers feedback and so far looks good to me.

AuctionAce I thought about changing to Cannon but when I looked they did not have a front loading machine and that was a priority for me

Next printer I get will be a laser printer now that they are sooo much more affordable then they used to be.

Hey all, thanks for the input! Yeah, these HP's are money suckers for sure. What I noticed too is now at the store the printers come with only a half load of ink.
(I always say thats like buying a new car with only 2 quarts of oil in it!)

I do have an old cannon BJ21 too, it prints kinda slow, but the cartridges are definately cheaper. I may go ahead and bid on that HP cartridge just to have it here. (I saw his FB was pretty good, too -- should be okay.)

I have an older HP722C and keep it on draft mode. It prints 3 times what the newer ones do. I would estimate 3 reams or more for typical ebay printing before the ink runs out.

The newer ones are a joke. I keep my HP PHotosmart on draft and the page still comes out wet from so much black ink if there is any dark lines on the page I print.

Lindajean==========

If you will take your cartridge out and dip a Q-tip in alcohol and clean the cartridge tip it will quit leaving streaks. I have to do that every once in awhile. I never or rarely had to do that with my HP622 or whatever number it was.

I recently found out that when you are printing something the next time click on the properties when the printing box comes up. When the window comes up click on advanced and near the bottom you can move the gauge over to the left where it says "ink volume" move it to less. And to the right of that is "drying time" and you can move that to less also. I did this but I don't really do enough printing to see if it makes a difference or not. I'm sure it will help some though.

"Does printer ink go bad?"

YES! And you can usually blame the PARENTS or the SCHOOLS!

One area that people over look is used Laser printers... if you watch, you can somtimes pick up a big bargin, and the cartridges last a home user long long time...but are alot more expensive than any ink cartridge.

Those Laserjet printers are work horses but they are BIG! I have one here that someone gave me. I know it will last forever but I am thinking about selling it because I have no where to put it. I know it will last forever!

I love my SAMSUNG ML-1430 -- with rtebate it onlu cost $150 & it uses only one drum = replacement goes for $70 X 2000 pages, but I usually wait until I get a coupon from Staples & buy it then!

I also had a Brother 1440, but the REPLACEMENTS of the TWO DRUMS was TOO expensive & I gave it to my son to worry with

This thread title seems to trigger long dormant song lyrics in my head ...

Cramer, just go to the manufacturer's site and get the drivers for a PC, it should work fine.

Does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bedpost overnight?

Does your mother say don't chew it, do you swallow it in spite. Can you catch it on your tonsils and heave it left and right.

Does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bedpost over night.

A dollars a dollar and a dimes a dime tell ya another story but I haven't got the time....if a tin horns made of tin whats a fog horn made of?

Lonnie Donnagan for sure.
