I almost always use at least 3 or 4 photos in my auctions. I see that now we can specify a photo for the top of our auction page, which is nice. But I also see that that choice will co-opt gallery picture so that I can't have two different ones for these functions. Sometimes I don't want my gallery picture to be the one in the thumbnail on the auction list page (with all the other listings), but if I choose a different photo for the top of my description page, that's what's going to happen.

Is this at all clear? I know what I mean, but it's late and I'm not sure I'm saying what I mean.

I was going to say I think your right but then I know that the first picture you put on is your upper left hand thumb nail picture, but can't you select below the picture you want as your gallary picture? I was going to put on an auction but I have no images ready so I will wait for who ever knows the answer.

You select the order of the photos that you want in the auction. You either highligt all of them at once (Pic a,b,c,d,) or load them separately (Pic c,b,a,d) to get a particular order. This first selection goes at the top. Is that clear or confusing? But when you go to the gallery choice, you can pick another picture .

I'm okay so far on this but there's a message in the Vendio site for opting into the picture at the top of your page. It says whatever you choose for the gallery will automatically be that top-of-page picture.

I guess I'm really fussy about my gallery picture. The order I pick for the pictures to show up in my auction description is frequently not the order I would choose dictating the gallery picture. The gallery picture, I strongly believe, must be a picture of something not confusing to the gallery viewer. Something that's easily recognizable to grab the viewer; for example, I wouldn't put the cover of most books as the gallery picture because they usually don't tell a story.

Then there's the added complication of the thumbnail on the listing page.

This is very confusing to me. I should just opt in for one of these and see what happens!

It would seem to me that the strongest picture would be the one you want for the gallery and the top of the auction. You want the most impact. And if you were to have different pictures in these locations, it might confuse the bidder to click a gallery and the first thing they see on the auction page is different.

I didn't realize that the gallery and the top of the page had to be the same. Hmmmmm.

Yes, it's true that when you pick a Gallery picture that's what shows up on the thumbnail big list page.

In the past, when I list a book, for instance, I will frequently pick a picture from the book but not the first picture in my auction, which is almost always a picture of the book cover. And my auctions have the pictures down the left side, the writing on the right side, so if a buyer gets down to the description, he'll see the cover of the book first but immediately see the other pictures.

Now I'm thinking it may not matter that much if the gallery and thumbnail and little picture at top of auction page are all the same thing. I'd just need to rework the order I have pictures in my actual description. Hmmm.

Well, I've opted into the deal (with quirks and all) for 6 little auctions starting this Sunday--auctions for things that are really low-end--and I'll see how I like it. Thanks for your help!
