Is anyone else finding that their feedback ratings are going down? Mine have run at about 100 a month for several years, but in spite of selling the same amount, they are down over 30%. People who are friendly, send great emails etc, never let me know that their items have arrived, or leave feedback. It is not a big issue, I have over 3,000, I am just wondering why.
Another thing, I usually check a buyers "Feedback left by buyer" before I leave a neg for NPB, just to check and see if they are in the habit of leaving retliatory negs. I checked on one the other day, 169 pos. feedbacks, 3 negs. How many had he left...0! Another with over 150 had left 15, they all said "O.K." What does that mean, I hate getting those, does it mean it was just o.k.? Didn't they really like it? Was there a problem? How long does it take to write a little comment?

Amber, alot of people cant be bothered to leave it, or I find the newbies, dont know they are supposed to leave it in return.

I guess there is really nothing you can do about it; "cant please all the people all the time."

If you read on here long enough you would know exactly why... sellers want the buyers to leave feedack first, so if you get a buyer is waiting on you.... then you will never get it.

I personally as a buyer will not leave feedback until it is received... as a seller, 99% I leave it when I ship... except for some that I feel maybe a problem.

I as a seller always try and leave feedback first. I have had no problems doing that.

It used to be the pattern at ebay was that the seller left the feedback first but now it is the other way around as too many weird buyers have left neutrals and negatives for the wrong reasons. The feedback system stinks and this is a convienent way to boycott the system.

I agree, I ALWAYS used to leave feedback first, until people left me negs for the slightest problem without even telling me that there was a problem. I don't wait until someone leaves me feedback before I leave some for them, just until they let me know that the item has arrived, and I know there is no problem. I have left almost 1,500 more than I have received.

Sheeee..... again.
First the Feed back system don't work.

Second if you leave feedback as a shipping announcement you will regret it.

Just put in your TOS (Boiler plate ..."feed back RETURNED"...)

Feed back is NOT your prime mover. Sale with profit is.
Kind regards

With 3000 it should not be a big deal. Just went over 2500 on one of my accounts, and over 2000 on another. I honestly don't care if people leave feedback or not. I don't leave it first, and if they do not want to exchange feedback with me, does not bother me at all. I found leaving feedback first empowers the buyer, like you better do what they want or else they will leave you a negative. I'd rather not have a negative, I found overall people are easier to deal with when they know that I have not left feedback already. Works for me, if it doesn't work for you, then fine. My first 5 years on ebay I left feedback first by the way, so I have played the feedback game both ways. I like it better this way.

As a seller I always left feedback the day payment was received, but no more. Now I wait until they receive the item and either leave feedback first or I wait a couple of weeks for any possible nasties to get it out of their system, so I have at least one bullet left in my rifle.

One buyer gave me grief over shipping charges (even though they were explicitely stated in the auction) and I said to her "if you want to exchange negatives, it's in your court". That seemed to end the problem, since she was at 100.0% and probably didn't want to risk a neg over it.

As a buyer I leave feedback the moment I receive the goods and many times I get feedback that same night for payment rec'd, so obviously lots of sellers are thinking the same way.

Until Feebay adopts a seller-friendly NPB feedback policy, this is how I handle it from now on.

One question I have for those who don't always (or ever) leave feedback. How do you deal with all those items on the feedback page which are awaiting your feedback? Don't they pile up?

they do pileup, one of my accounts has about 700 on there. However, after 90 days, when feedback can no longer be left, they disappear.

Jack had an idea for this last week here. He said perhaps there should be a delete button by the ones that pile up?

I have had a few on my page and some will leave feedback after awhile or I do leave some for them first.

But there have been a few who will never get a feedback from me (very few) and I would prefer to just delete them off the page.

In case I forget and leave them a positive, maybe?

I do understand that even if I delete them from the page that they can still leave me feedback within 90 days or so.

Yes, they pile up but I don't care. I leave feedback through vendio and don't go there. I looked at it a few weeks ago and it had about 300 in it.

O.k. this is my reasoning about the delete button. On the see feed back for the last 90 days page, I have at last look 87 sitting there. They never gave me feed back and most likely never will cept maybe some from the last week, any older than 2 weeks you can almost bet they are not interested in the feed back game. They got their item and that's the end of it.

Now,,, this page can NOW become a great tool. The ones who HAVE given feed back disappear of that page. Fact.

Let's say I have 10 showing, 3 freely give me feed back, poof, poof, poof gone, leaves 7, 2 are over 2 weeks old, delete them, As Kiara just said, that does NOT end their ability to give feed back you just don't see it anymore. Now,,,,WE have 5 left,,,,,,,who are those 5? those 5, are the 5 NPB's.............And that's why it would be WONDERFUL to See nothing,,,on that page. It is a great place to keep track of those 5 jerks! As you take them down NPB style poof, poof, poof ,poof, poof......

If they would just let you set the date range you want to view it would work almost like that. You wouldn't have to delete them and it would probably be real easy for them to change to do it.

They have delete buttons right next to your sold auctions. Same idea. The deal is over you sold it so just delete it. Same with feed back. You never heard anything from them you most likly won't why keep it cluttering up the picture. Weed it out. All anyone cares to see is what they care to see. However they use this idea is up to them. But the delete button is the way to go. Shoot others may find other reasons for it's usefulness. My,,,I just looked 91!!!! awaiting feed backs is just a bunch of weeds, pull em and see a clearer picture like the 5 NPS's...... clear targets,,POW!!!! anotherone bites the dust. Why accidently hit an innocent bystander? AND!!!!!!! Not too mention accidently giving a POSITIVE to some jerk.

On thing I do agree with Jack on, Amazed Jack?; is that once an NPB is filed the ability for at least them to leave feedbacks is GONE! Until they pay and seller stops the NPB process.

As a buyer I always leave feedback upon receipt of item.
As a Seller, it all depends how I feel the transaction is going form the beginning, If they respond quickly, and payment is received in a timely manner then I feel good about leaving the feedback when I ship the item, because I always have a tracking number to prove it was shipped and a date showing that it was shipped upon receipt of payment, I know my item is in the condition that was described in my auction so I don't feel there will be any problems.

I also don't care if a buyer leaves me feedback or not, what I do like is when they contact me in email to say the item arrived safely. To me that is more important then feedback.

As a seller of 7 years 99% of the time I leave feedback upon payment - if I have a feeling the buyer could be a problem, I wait till they have received the item and left feedback for me. I'd rather miss some feedback than have to try to deal with bad feedback.

I find Neg. feedback usually comes from newbies who act before they think, or from pure cranky people. "Usually" with experience you can get a feel for these as you deal with them through e-mails.

I have a friend seller who never leaves feedback till the buyer has, but I personally, think it the responsibility of the seller to leave feedback first, unusual it is an apparent difficult buyer.

If you think it is the responsibility of the seller, why not leave feedback 100% of the time, why only 99% of the time? What does your belief that a possible difficult situation have to do with anything IF you think it is the RESPONSIBILITY of the seller to leave feedback first? Your post is a nice contradiction.

I do exactly what JWPC does, maybe because I'm really conscientious and want to get those sales awaiting feedbacks off my list.

Sometimes I feel leery of a buyer--either through his e-mails before payment is received or his apparent lack of organization, maybe if I'm selling to a young man, knowing how impulsive they can be, or to a rather new buyer. In those cases I wait.

Most of the time I trust the buyer, trust my item's worth, and it really has not bitten me yet, after hundreds of sales.

Feedback is voluntary so there isn't a right or wrong time to leave it. If you don't want to leave any there is nothing wrong with that either.

Who cares about feedbacks anyway. I know I ship a good item. All I worry about is getting paid for my work. For me its always the bottom feeders that give out negs on cheap stuff anyway. A tip to avoid a bottom feeders neg is when a bottom feeder emails a lot of questions about a cheap item just put that person on your blocked bidders list and don't reply to their stupid questions. I am not talking about the everyday question but the emails that have 6 or 8 or more questions about a cheap item. 99% of the time thats a sucker lipped bottom feeding fool.
