I recently bid on and won an auction for a software program. Description clearly listed this software as being new (without box)and able to be regestered. I have never gotten an email after auction ended from the seller-however I did get an email from an unknown user ID asking me what version of the software I wanted!
Since I bid on exactly what the description stated, why would the seller send me a question like this?..Can this be spam from someone selling a similar product-or is the seller trying to avoid fees by listing one item, when in fact they have several similar items for sale? Is the seller trying to sell "copied" software?
Any ideas out there?

Strange!? The very same thing happened to me week before last. I bought win98 office said it was new, turned out it wasn't. Anyway I got an email asking what version I wanted and no other information. It was sent as question from ebay member. No name or anything else and I thought this is strange but told them exactly what I wanted....what I bought. I didn't hear anything else from that person.
Wonder what the heck is up with that? Ya think they are trying to sell something else or what?

Well, I did a reply to the email and asked them what they were talking about-here is their answer:
Subject: RE: Question from eBay Member
i'm not the seller on eBay. I saw you bidding and thought you might be
interested.
i have Office XP Pro 2002 (with service pack 2) , 2000 & all other
versions. I also have Computer Based Training CDs on office programs for
$15 each. I'm a Verified Business Member with Verisign.com
check out my list of programs http://68.33.34.124:6450
for a copy and serial# (backup copy) i'll do it for $25 & if you buy
more i'll give you a cheaper deal
let me know if interested and i'll send you payment instructions.
This is against eBay policy and I believe it to be spam.
Now that I know it isn't my seller I am going to report them to ebay-I auggest you all do the same!

I thought about sending it to eBay after the fact and didn't. I had to reformat my computer again yesterday, 2nd time in 10 days, so I don't have the email to send. I emailed the seller I bought from and told them about it. They said it was a virus but I didn't believe that.
