I have a set of Pfaltzgraff Brown Drip, sometimes called Gourmet, stoneware that I'd like to sell on eBay. It was discontinued in the 80's. It used to bring pretty good prices on eBay.I've sorta watched it lately, and it doesn't seem to be selling very well. Could it be because the stuff is so heavy and therefore expensive to ship? I know I take into account how much the shipping will be when I bid on stuff. Anyone out there have any experience with this pattern or just stoneware in general on eBay?

I've sold quite a bit of Pfaltzgraff over the years and hav done quite well on most of it. Be quite clear in your description that you will be shipping via FedEx ground since it is much cheaper than USPS. Be prepared to get emails for shipping quotes on the larger pieces. If you list several pieces at once, mention it in your descriptions and play up the fact that you will combine wins to save on shipping. It doesn't take too many pieces of this stuff to add up to a 15 pound package. Also, be sure to get the words "Brown Drip" and "Gourmet" both in your title. If you ever list any Yorktowne, you want to get the word spelling "Yorktown" in the description at least once, as many people use that spelling in search. My sales have usually done better in September and October, before the holidays.

Go on eBay, search Pfaltzgraf, there are only 9 items listed. Not a great demand for it. I see a lot of it on yard sales, estate sales & flea mkts. Never ever buy it as the there is a very low market for it.

Sanmar,

There are 2 "f"s in Pfaltzgraff. Spell it correctly and the search comes up with about 7600 items.

It seems to me there is a market for it. But it seems that the prices aren't very high. I usually don't buy it for resale either.

I think it's the same with most of the Pfaltzgraff patterns. I used to get really good money for any Yorktowne piece I'd put up for auction, but I think it's like most common items now. It's over-saturation of more of the same. The stuff is a dime a dozen now and unless you have a really unusual or hard to find item, you won't get much. Bummer! I have an entire set of Yorktowne and Village and don't know what to do with them. Maybe hang onto them for a few more years to see what happens.

I think that the ~America~ pattern is the one that gets the most bids.

I have sold this pattern before on eBay and did really well with it.
It was only out for a short time back in either the late 70s to early 80s.

I have almost the whole set for myself and it is really a nice one.

NOT gina50 on eBay

A few months ago I found some pieces at our thrift shop and decided to give them a try. They *may* have been the America pattern but not sure. I sold all for decent amounts. They were a very large salad bowl (which was a bear to ship)and two platters of two different sizes. I think they sold for somewhere between $13 and $20 each.

I have learned, though, that the serving pieces on most recent pottery and china are the only ones I can sell easily.
