Which is better for selling used books, Amazon or Half?

Amazon has higher fees (extra .99 for each sale). Both have tie ins to big sellers (eBay and Amazon). What would justify the payment of the higher fee?

99 cents is just the transaction fee,if you sell on amzn marketplace, and it is the only place your books get noticed, there is a 15% commission.
amzn will waive that 99 cents transaction fee if you apply for a merchant account for 39.99 a month.
amzn is a better place to sell books than half, but competition is VERY TOUGH.

more people know of amzn than half.
more people prefer amzn than barnes and noble or border.
amzn also has antiquarian books which are hard to find,it has some big name discount booksellers such as e r hamilton, strandbook of nyc, powell books of oregon and abebooks.
half.com has e r hamilton ,but the last time i looked,e r hamilton was just listing the giveaway books on half, but this could change.
amzn also have more accurate listings with photos of the bookcover.
also amzn sells books as well and often offer free shipping for its own books.
eg harry potter books.
but because of these big discounters, small sellers have a disadvantage,if you buy from where they buy, they get discount which you do not get.

I think people associate half.com with movies and video games, while they assocaite amazon with books. They both allow you to sell all. I do sell books on half (because it is less expensive for me to do so) but they do sell slowly there. It is much better for games and movies

I sell 2-6 books a day on half. I reprice them about once a month to stay competitive.

books move faster on amzn,if you sell popular out of print books, dont bother to reprice, your turn will come.
having said that,i recently took out my competitor who is selling remainder book (300 pages ,400 colorful illustrations hardcopy) at 3.95 on amzn.
it is selling them at its own site at 2.95.
i bot all his copies .
