I usually believe in offering my bidder's every way of making payment that I can come up with.
Lately though I've really enjoyed having the auction end, getting the $$ through PayPal, shipping the stuff out, and being done with the whole thing.
I don't sell a lot of stuff (certainly will never be considered as a Power Seller) but I still got a few things sitting here 10 days after the auction ended waiting for payment. Now I'll start th email tag "Can you give me an update on when you sent payment?", etc, etc.
I'm thinkin' of just offering PayPal as my only method of payment but I'm not sure if that's a real good idea.

Probably best to offer the checks and Money Orders also, but you can nudge the buyer in the direction of PayPal by stressing the "immediate shipping," carrot.

There are a lot of sellers using the PP only method, maybe as much as 5% of all auctions and growing.
Personally, I feel that anything payment method to entice bidders is a definite plus and will wait to Paypal is even more mainstream before going the PP Only route.

I did PayPal only auctions on one of my accounts for about two months. I did not make a difference. I had the same number of people write me at the end and ask for a mailing address to send a money order to as I have with auctions where I offer both methods.

Yes. It doesn't work. We found that only 30-40% of winning bidders paid with PayPal. The rest either claimed they didn't see the "PayPal only" notice (which appeared six times in various places in each auction) or insisted on sending paper payment anyway.
It is not yet an electronic payment paradise and may never be.

We never accepted paypal and our sale rate has remained the same. One thing our buyers like is the much lower shipping cost. Many paypal sellers really add the handling fees to their shipping costs.
