These look to me like something that would be used to make rugs. You turn the handle on the side and the hollow, pointed end piece moves up and down, not unlike a sewing machine. The other little doo-dad has a bent metal piece that is hooked on the end like a crochet hook and looks older than the others (or maybe just more worn out). Any clues?

The end of the bottom one sure does look like a sewing machine presser foot to me.

I wonder if they're somehow used in making boots???

The whole principle of how they seem to work is just like a sewing machine. It's pretty obvious that you hold them onto something, then turn the handle and voila..same thing as a sewing machine only by hand.

Thanks for the pic posting, and the reminder on how to do it..just blanked out there for a minute.
