A month or so ago someone had a buyer who wanted it sent on their acct. # instead of the sellers. I don't remember the exact transaction but the seller who posted it here said it was a no no to let the buyer charge the postage to their account that could come back to bite you. I don't remember why. Whoever you are out there tell me again why you don't do that. I just made a big sale and the buyer wants to send me his fedex acct # and overnight the item to him. He will overnight a money order then I send the item. Should there be a problem with this?

Paws - the issue in question was that Fed ex could com back on you if they decide to refuse the charge when they are billed. There is a VERY simple way to avoid that. Use their address as both the shipping and recieving address.

If he sends a money order with his FedEx label enclosed the risk is very low, because you have the money order and the worst that could happen is you will wind up with the item, the money and a $50.00 FedEx bill. Never agree to this arrangement if he wants to pay with Paypal or if he is in a foreign country, especially Canada.

He is sending a label with the MO. Actually he is sending two labels because it will take a small box and a larger one for a tube to fit into. The sale was $1282.00 so I could live with the fedex bill if I had to. I didn't want to take Paypal for payment and I'm glad you wanted to do the MO.

Paws...FedEx includes the first $100.00 of insurance in the base rate. You might want to email him and make sure he has arranged for the extra insurance. I had a very similar situation happen to me, only it was with UPS. It worked out great. The good part is you don't have to drive out to the Airport to ship it. Just find a FedEx truck making a delivery and hand it to him. Or go to an authorized FedEx location and put it on their counter and smile. No surcharge! With the scenario you describe, I would go for it, as I don't see any possible pitfalls. The buyer is doing this because he will get a 10% discount on the shipping by putting it on his account. However, if anyone following this thread smells a rat, please weigh in. This is what this board is all about.

If he's from Canada and his name is Bryan Adams, don't do it!!
The b*stard set up a UPS account in my name and then sent a shipping label addressed to Nigeria. But after UPS figured out what happened, they didn't charge me.

I had this happen once, and it was a pain in the keister.
First of all, I drag two huge boxes to Fedex (I rarely have anything large enough to bother using them, so I just go there when I do) and find out that the account # he has given me will not be accepted for this type of transaction. I don't remember the details of why, sorry. Should have made note of it.
Anyway, he ended up having to purchase the shipping through fedex in advance and have them sent to my house to pick it up. Looking back on it, I wonder if there was a business account being used there for personal stuff, and no, I don't believe I'd do that again. If your buyer goes the pre-paid route like mine ended up doing, I don't see how there could be any trouble though. Like others here say though..if you smell a rat..

Just how do you know they get a 10% discount? They could be getting a much bigger discount than that and probably are if they ship any volume. I get a 17% discount on fedex air and don't use it that much.
Also, if he happens to work for Fedex or most any airline he is probably getting a 75% discount. (My cousin just works at an airport and gets that discount)

EAG - I assume you were not a big pop fan in the late 80s, early 90's. Bryan Adams is a Canadian recording artist

Sappington... You are absolutely correct. I mentioned the 10% discount because that is the minimum a new account holder will receive. It's possible it could go as high as 90%. I have an account with FedEx and I would not be sending my account number to a perfect stranger unless I saw a chance for at least a 50% discount on shipping.
