I just received the following email from a buyer. I almost feel like reporting it to eBay as "Feedback Extortion":

I paid you over two weeks ago for the above item and received it a week ago. You are yet to give me any positive feedback on this transaction. I am holding off with your feedback and will respond with negative if you go another week without completing your responsibilities as an eBay seller. Feedback is one of the great assets we all have in dealing with responsible individuals. Even though your transaction was for a relatively small amount of money, it still is a major responsibility to complete the feedback.

What do you think?

Oh, I'd give him feedback, alright. I would post a negative.
I have done it before. Yes, I got a neg back but who cares? Taught him a lesson.
I would also report him.

Thanks for the heads up. One more moron on my no-bidding list.

Wow, talk about an uptight buyer. I have a hard time getting buyers to leave me feedback but I don't force them either. In this case, I'd probably just respond in the same tone, leave feedback and remind them that this kind of extortion won't be tolerated by ebay. etc etc

This was my email response to the buyer:

"I have decided to report this threatening email to eBay as it is "Feedback Extortion". I use automated software to handle feedback and it posts feedback, once feedback is received. You may post any feedback you like, I will respond with the appropriate feedback."

He replied asking why I had such a negative reaction...imagine that?

marcn,

This is my standard form that I use for situations like this:

Even though the feedback program is completely optional, I always submit feedback after each transaction has been completed. This is usually after your item have been delivered and you have expressed satisfaction by leaving your feedback. Rest assured, I do reciprocate all feedback in a timely manner.

I am confident that you will be pleased with my products and service. I take pride in every transaction conducted on eBay, making sure that your item is shipped both quickly and efficiently. I will also be keeping in constant contact with you until our transaction has been completed successfully and to your satisfaction.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me again.

You might want to try sending him an e-mail like that... Hope it helps!

Oh, please. That is so funny.

Be careful what you promise, there are some real nutbars out there.

Well my bidder left positive feedback and apologized for the whole mess. I bet eBay sent him a warning of some type.
