I have a autographed photo of Elvis which appears to be from the mid 1950's. It's black & white and signed in blue. Printed on the bottom is Elvis Presley on one side and Exclusive RCA Victor Recording Artist on the other under his image. Then in tiny letters it says moss photo service, inc. 350 w 10th St New York 19, N.Y. On the back is GIANT WKAZ AM FM.
I know this is a promotional piece but could it be his signature? Does anyone know how to get a COA or would that cost a fortune.
Thanks

There's no way to get a COA. And anyway, anyone can print one up now days.

The best way to find out if it's real is to take it to an autograph specialist. They might give you a COA for a fee. A good way to find out if it's genuine is to compare your signature to several from reliable sites. My neighbor is a whacko Elvis fan and could tell you in a minute. That's another way. Find an Elvis fanatic.

There are major autograph sellers that specialize in high value autographs. One of them could possibly authenticate the signature for an appraisal fee. ( it is a real Elvis signature ) What many of the authenticators do is rate the signature as to the degree of probability that it is genuine, such as an 80% possibility of genuineness.

jensmome
Thanks for the advise - I have compared the signature of some selling on ebay with the COA and it looks pretty good to me.
If I can get a picture up here - would your neigbor look at it for me?

Ace
Would you recommend looking on ebay or google for an expert?

Lady,
I'd be happy to have her look for you. You can e-mail me privately through one of my current or past auctions. I am jensmome on eBay.

I'd think a local reputable dealer would be better so they can actually look at the signature. Maybe you can find a local dealer on ebay or Google.

I don't disagree, Ace. But before she spends her money on an autograph dealer, this will at least tell her if it might be worth the trip. These guys charge just for looking.

I was going to say to try to get any autograph collector to halfway look at it for free to see if it is worth the appraisal fee. There are people that try to sell printed signatures as the real McCoy since it looks good to them. I think a jewelry appraisal is fairly expensive also and you wouldn't want to take an obvious costume jewelery item in and pay $35 to find out it's worth $3.

"I have a autographed photo of Elvis which appears to be from the mid 1950's."
There are thousands of photographs of thousands of folks who had at least 15 secs of fame for sale on Ebay which "appears to be from xxxx date signed by yyyy."

Unfortunately I don't buy anything that "appears to be the real thing"
