paloma - I love it!

Although, I don't know anything about it I do recognize the alabaster/marble base - I have two lamps with the same base, but they are crystal - have been in my family for YEARS...not end table size lamps - smaller, like for a night stand...

looks like a treasure to me

I'm sorry I really do not know anything about it, but I think it's pretty cool!

The glass looks older (may not be) than those awful fittings. It's a hand painted satin glass with a swirl pattern. I bet that someone who putters with lamps would love to get that glass and use more elegant metal parts.

Lamp parts seem to be a pretty good category. I think it's worth listing.

I get much better vibes with your lamp than the last trash-or-treasure lamp here that closed at a $4.95 price.

Very 'shabby but chic' definite treasure! I would go after the whole shabby angle in the write up. Good Luck!

Yeah nice little lamp and shabby chic is what you want to call it. I wouldn't replace anything - maybe put a nice shade on it and mention the winner may want to replace or refinish the metal fittings. A little very fine steel wool may help even out the finish on the metal, but be careful not to over do it. A little soft scrub will clean up outside. The problem is that this looks like a lamp that is painted on the inside - one little scratch on that paint and oh well. Been there - done that.
Good luck

Tom...too much spit laugh, too little coffee in cup!

Toasted, my mom thinks that your 4.99 lamp is deco and lucite. But hey, she's not quite of that era, any feedback from the bidder? The plug looks mighty old!
The lamp in _this_ thread looks like something from the set of "Dear Ruth", in Ruth Wilkins' bedroom no doubt!

if you want to use "shabby Chic" in your description, say something like "If you are into the shabby and chic designing mode". just separate the words in some way. Then you have not touched the copyrighted title "shabby chic"
